I'm from KY, I have been putting in as a NR ever since it opened. My father is a resident and I've entered him every year also. Neither have drawn. I did put him in this year again...but I drew NM tag so I'm out.

The odds are terrible for those hunts and as a NR it's similar to hitting a once in a lifetime western hunt. However....the cost is super minimal to apply so why not.

They relocated some elk this winter to try to expand the herd a bit - the new area has more public (FS) land. Will probably be a few years before the new herd is developed enough to allow hunting though.

And, I also made my yearly donation as well.

I put in for a few years when I lived in Ky. Finally realized it was a waste of money so I quit. I'd rather put the $ towards pref points in a western state and actually have a chance to draw.

So are the elk located on mostly Public lands where a NR could hunt them if they ever did get the golden ticket?
