Whitefish, seared in olive oil, then sautéed in butter with a bunch of spices. Pulled the fish. Added white wine and sour cream to the butter for a sauce. Deadly good. Whitefish can compete with the best of them. And nobody here wants to catch them.

We deep fry them as well and make french fries, which was my favorite. I think this way though may have been better.

It looks so delicious and I have also heard that whitefish is very good for the immune system and blood cells. It also strengthens the bones and is a great source of low-fat protein.

Most people will say they aren't good eating, and will only use them for pike bait on tip ups out here. I catch them on the Missouri River and usually keep a few dozen each winter. I like to scale them, fillet leaving the skin on, and pull the pin bones with a fish tweezer. I usually just season with salt/pepper/garlic and cook them in the oven on a baking sheet with butter. They're a really good tasting fish prepared correctly.

Just the other day. Fileted whitefish. Lots of spices then browned and cooked in butter. When done, I pulled the fish, added white wine and sour cream to thicken. Then topped the plate with pickled onions.

There are alot of nay-sayers out there when it comes to whitefish but I keep em all. I save my summer/fall cartch in freezer bags until hunting season is over and do a big fish smoke. Usually the bag includes trout, whitefish, and kokanee. Always turns out delicious!20221104_132901.jpg
