I'm heading to WY to hunt the National Forest area west of Pinedale in mid to late November. My hunting buddy backed out on me this year, so I'm going to solo it. I'm less concerned about backpack hunting solo than I am making the drive from North AL to WY solo. It really isn't a bad drive with two guys doing 3-3.5hr shifts.
Which would you take: a semi self driving truck for the long drive (Ford Blue Cruise) or a HD truck with a Warn 16.5ti-s heavyweight winch? I haven't been to WY later than Oct, so I'm not sure how necessary a winch might be to saving my a** solo'ing it. I've got my 2015 F350 FX4 CCSB SRW with 35" Toyo AT3s, heavy duty bumpers, and a Warn 16.5ti-s heavyweight winch. I've also got my Wife's new truck. A couple months ago I got a deal on trading in her just paid off 21 4Runner for a new 25 Raptor 801a (35s), the dealership made me a deal I couldn't pass on. I'm having a bed cap installed later this month. I know some of you think that I'm just looking for an excuse to take the Raptor, but truthfully I like driving my F350 KR better. I should note that fuel mileage will be better in the Raptor 3.5l ecoboost.
