I know you have ruled out smaller bore cans, but the shorter you go, the more difference bore size makes. A OCL Hydrogen K 6.5 might be a pretty sweet can for what your goals are. Or a DD wolf hunter. For me, I have one bigger bore hydrogen for my .350, then the other two are 6.5 hydrogens.

I don’t think anyone makes a 4”+4” 1.75” diameter suppressor that weighs under 12 ounces and rates at 128 dBA or better at SE. That is what I really want.

If you were ok with a 6mm bore and OPS mounts, the Front of Rifle Systems Mk12 MOD FOR reflex can would get awfully close to those numbers. I don’t believe it’s been shot over a meter though.

If someone has a meter reading for SE position, that would be really interesting. Maybe I will try calling them tomorrow?

I’ll hit up for owners of FOR (I’m a dealer but not for the Mk12) and see if I can get you some numbers.

It appears that this is very close to the Allen Engineering AEM5, which is a well-regarded suppressor (but heavy AF).

Yep! Essentially a 3D printed, lightweight, low back pressure version of the AEM5. The AEM5 is still one of the best sounding 5.56 suppressors out there (which is wild considering how crude the baffle stack is).

Otter Creek OCM5 is in the same vein but heavier than the Mk12 Mod FOR. Upcoming OCM6 will be a low back pressure version of the 5 but will probably end up a tad heavier based on what I’ve seen.

If you can find out more about the FOR Mk12, that would be really helpful. Be even better if you could get it in stock!

Reading the graph, it’s the quietest while being the 2nd shortest/lightest without the known durability issues. Seems like a no brainer to get the Nomad XC. Do you get the Xeno mount or direct thread mount, that would be the next question here?

Will do! I’ll pass along anything I get back.

As of now we can’t get the Mk12, it’s exclusive to a few of their larger dealers. If you end up wanting to go that route we may be able to work something out with them. If not we can recommend one of those dealers to you.

It does seem that way, doesn’t it. That’s why I am asking for people to share experiences with it. Raw numbers seem very good, but so did the Scythe’s a year ago.

Fwiw I have a 6.5 bore ultra 7 and a 30 cal ultra 7.

I can notice a difference on a 223.

I havnt heard all the cans in your list. But ime between the sizes you’re looking at and what I have heard; the differences are so miniscule between them and the much bigger cans on a 223.

Yes, that’s what Form’s old posts said too.

This can will go on something with a 16”-20” barrel, so I really want it under 7” and closer to 6”. I am going to have one or two rifles that are really long for some open field work, but most of my hunting is in woods. So, as short as possible without compromising suppression too much is the goal.

The OG’s 4” is a real selling point for it. The OG is the reason the AB Raptor 2, 4, and 6 aren’t on the list. The OG is a known quantity to me and I don’t see the point of getting something that potentially rates at 131 vs 133 (even though sound is logarithmic, not linear).

I don’t think anyone makes a 4”+4” 1.75” diameter 7.62 suppressor that weighs under 12 ounces and rates at 128 dBA or better at SE. That is what I really want.

I hunt in PA, tight woods are all we have and we put on drives through pine plantations where shots aren’t generally more than 10 or 15 yards. The extra 2” of the Nomad L over the Nomad Ti isn’t really noticed in the woods but it is 100% noticed at the ears.

I just measured my 6.5 PRC, with an 18” barrel and a Nomad L it is 44-3/4” long.

I have the Ti xc. It's good. Shot it next to a hyperion k a few weeks ago. The xc definitely has more hiss to it. The hyperion k had a very nice dull tone. If I did it again I would get the hyperion k.

I would rather get a .30 caliber can and maybe switch the end cap later on than get a dedicated 5.56 can. I don’t think it makes enough difference in noise reduction.

Does anyone have any SE dBA measurements for the AB A-10? AB won’t publish any data on this and none of the sites i have found so far list it.

I have enough 30 caliber cans and most of what I shoot is 22 and 24 caliber so I ended up getting the polonium and the Noah ti. Both are 22/24 cans just different weights and price points. I like them just fine don’t regret getting them at all but to my ears I can’t tell that the caliber specific cans are any better than the 30 caliber ones on the same rifles. If someone else’s ears tell them differently I wouldn’t argue with them but I/we can’t tell a difference. Again I’m completely happy with them no regrets since they work for the majority of what I shoot but can’t see myself ever getting more 22-6mm cans unless technically really changes and they really make a noticeable difference. So with that said if caliber specific cans doesn’t make a difference to me I sure can’t see how different end caps would….to me. Maybe others hear differently?

The Hyperion is the only can I’ve used that I could tell a difference between it and what I have. Not so much on smaller stuff but on a 20” 300win I could tell a difference in sound and recoil. It’s also considerably larger and heavier. Between using the regular Hyperion and reports read here the Hyperion K is another one I’m sure interested in.

The raptor 8 might be everything you’re looking for once it comes in? Your ideal can might already be in the works for you.

It’s wierd, the hyperions tested kind of lousy at tbac summit at shooters ear but first hand reviews seem generally positive.
The fella who owns the store I generally go to has K. I need to get with him one day and get a first hand opinion myself. Last time I looked if I’m remembering correctly they had a free tax stamp deal going on too.
