Where were you ?

Working in a Japanese manufacturing plant near mcgee Tyson airport, planes stated landing like crazy, everyone was glue to tvs in lunchroom or their computers and management was trying to get everyone to get back to work

Working in Central FL., in one of the infinite subdivisions down there.
Had just locked my keys in my work truck. Went and knocked on a door to use
the phone (no cell phone back then). Woman asked me straight up - Are you a
Terrorist?" I said NO, why would you ask that? She invited me in and we watched
the 2nd plane fly into the other tower. Then we watched them fall.
Once I got my truck unlocked I went and found a pay phone and called my Mom.
Somehow, life just hasnt been the same since.

Teaching 8th grade students in Alaska.

Wheeled the large tv set into the room and watched the entire event, I knew it was history the kids needed to witness. At 34 y/o now, I'm sure they all remember that too.

I was senior year in high school, between classes found out in the hallway. Then watched it on TV in the next class, I'm pretty certain I didn't see it live.

Had a teacher whose husband was at the Pentagon that day, she was a bit of a mess. I think it was 6-7 pm that evening before she was able to speak with him, or it was definitely a long time.

I was in Boise, laying waterline next to a high profile fiber line . The FCC shut our project down due to the high importance of that fiber line. We went back to the job shack and listened to the radio reports. We were working real close to the Boise airport and the silence from there was eery. It seems so far away now, but every time I see the video footage, it still feels so raw.

I was working in a factory just outside of Washington D.C. I'll never forget the guy who told me the Towers were hit by planes and collapsed. I couldn't comprehend what he was saying. I was imagining a small portion of the building. We all left work and went to a local sports bar with big screens to see the news. The waitress asked me what I wanted, I just said who GAF about lunch.

Sophomore in class. Thought it was due to pilot error and when they hit the second tower we all were so shocked. Never felt a gut wrenching moment like that so young.

Crazy I recall exactly; we had gotten canceled on a vehicle crash and one of the cops asked if we had seen the "plane crash" into the towers. We hadn't, we were woken up for the call. At that time it was too early to know it was a terror attack.

RIP to all those lost

Served from ‘86-‘95
Did Desert Storm…..was in country Sept/‘90-July/‘91
At the time of the 9/11 attack I was supervising two metal fabrication shops
Almost enlisted again but the wife at the time talked me out of it….wish I had and have regretted it ever since

On a fast attack/special ops submarine just starting a maintenance period. We had the motor to one of the main lube oil pumps being hoisted out in rigging and we were cooling down the reactor. We started putting stuff back together immediately and half the crew went home to get sea bags to get ready to deploy.

Guiding elk hunters in the Thoroughfare in Wyoming. Got back to camp that night and while putting horses away we were all commenting that there had been no planes flying over like normal. Had someone from the next camp several miles away ride in to our camp to tell us the towers had been hit and had come down.

I was at 29 palms just finishing up on the range when they unexpectedly/unexplained hurried us back to the barracks. Hindsight. 29 stumps is/was likely the safest place on earth as not a single human (or other kind) would ever want to step foot there 🤷‍♂️

5th year apprentice. We were wiring lights in a rail depot. Heard it over the radio.

Job shut down around lunch.

RIP to those lost that day
