I'd like to get my Marlin 336 threaded so I can suppress it. I know the magazine tube will need to be shortened and the front sight relocated. I'm looking for recommendations for smith to do the work.

Any machinist gunsmith can do this work, but most just tell you no because people freak out when they hear how much it'll cost. You have a crown and threading job, a sight hole job, a indexed magazine attachment, shortened magazine and spring, action tear down/rebuild and refinishing.....assuming the forend furniture doesn’t need modding.
Screwing up any one of those tasks turns this into a go broke job.....so if you start the conversation by telling the smith that you know it's a 4 digit job....you might get a taker.
Expect at least $1200.00 to have it done right.
I sent him an email as well haha. He did such a good job on my tikka.I tried talking Karl at Feldcamp Customs into it, and he politely said no thanks…twice. I said I don’t blame you, but wish you’d do it.
