New proof PXT Gain twist barrels

Sorry if this has already been addressed but is this not the same tech/concept that Seekins already rolled out a 5/6 ish months back?

They said at the time they were going to ‘open source’ the gain twist rates and broader design so that other manufacturers could more easily play along.

Id bet that Proof was way ahead of Seekins on this, they just didn't care if they were first.

The matter of who came out with it first is trivial and not important, I was simply asking for confirmation of whether PXT was the same tech as Seekins is already employing. That said, your comment is naive. Seekins is arguably one of the most innovative brands in this industry, for both good and for bad.

Your comment implied that Proof had taken this idea from Seekins. I would bet it might be the other way around. Proofs barrels are lightyears ahead of Seekins from everything I have seen.

But yes. The concept seems to be the same, Proof is just doing it in a way that is commercially available in blanks at a meaningful scale, with prefit compatibility acrossed multiple action manufacturers, rather than only offering it in their proprietary rifles.

Proof has been in R&D of this barrel tech for some time now, at least a year. Seekins released their high gain twist tech barrels in conjunction with the SIC rifles, which are targeted at military applications. This isn't surprising since the military is shooting a lot of high psi ammo right now, up to 338 lapua case sizes.

There are 6.5/.264 24” PXT barrel blanks out there in stock.
You almost just cost me $1150 lol. I had it in my cart and then held off. I have an almost brand new benchmark carbon that’s hammering right now. That’ll keep me busy for a little while.

But if everything about them is true, a 24” 6.5-7 PRC would be good in one.
