Where to get Cut and Thread?

SC says they will cut and crown for $70.

The thing that stands out to me is the service for checking threads/alignment is another $25. Quality should be built into the job, not an add on service. It's not about the cost, they could just increase the price of the thread job by $25, but don't make it an extra. What thread job would I not want to be checked and aligned? I looked into sending SC a barreled action recently and chose a different gunsmith based on this alone. It sounds like other guys have had good results with them still, it's just the principle of it for me.

Is Kampfield still taking threading work? Site is a bit unclear if he's accepting threading at the moment. I can call when they open, but trying to make a decision if I should just drive to my not-very local gunsmith

I got one back from him last month so I would think nothing has changed

Edit to add, this was my first cut/thread from him (or anyone else for that matter) and very happy with the quality of the work and his communication/help.

I called him yesterday - very nice guy. Still taking this work though sounds like turnaround time is getting longer with all the business he’s getting.
