What's your standby Whitetail hunting knife?

Cabelas alaskan Guide Alpha Fixed by Buck - they dont make it anymore - nice looking blade. Would buy another if they are around

I agree! I won't take this thread down ye olde "Cabela's sucks since Bass Pro..." route, but those knives were a prime example of the quality they used to have. I'd still love to get my hands on the 113 Ranger model in that series. Come to think of it, all the Buck knives in that hunting line are excellent. Someone else mentioned the Vanguard - another timeless blade. 🤤

I have had a Puma SGB clearcut for years, sturdy holds a great edge. Solid/simple knife at a good price.

I used an Opinel #10 carbon steel to field dress my one deer. It worked great.

I always carry at least two. Belt knife is a stroup bravo, also with me daily, and I toss my benchmade hidden canyon and winkler belt knife in the pack. Sometimes the benchmade infidel is in the pocket

My current primary knife is an American-made, Case XX M3 Finn, but I also started carrying my Buck 105 in my backpack (which was my primary knife in the 80s).

My parents bought my brother and I the Buck 105 knives for Christmas a long time ago. Mom and Dad are no longer with me, so I decided to start carrying the 105 again this past season.

I need to update my answer to this question, it was a havalon for several years but picked up a benchmade hidden canyon and grizzly creek folder with the gut hook and love them, and no more snapping blades. I have been converted but won't be selling my havalons, still he best for birds!

Mines been a Buck 103 skinner for a long time. Just recently picked up a MKC packout skinner. Really liking it so far. Even used it to butcher a couple of deer this fall. Not ideal for butchering, but it worked. V

Years ago, I used to spend a lot of time on BladeForums.com. I constantly found myself drooling over this one guy's work, so I had him make me something. . .

In the hand, it feels as beautiful as it looks, so I try to have it with me on all my hunting escapades.

My Buck 110 sees the most action. I inherited an Anza knife that I need to get into the rotation, but I always remember my dad saying it was a bit softer blade. I’ll be testing it on my next deer.

It took a bit but I finally got my Alex Dron E4V2 in S90v this summer and used it for 3 out of the 4 deer my son and I took this year. I also took it as my primary out to Wyoming for elk but didn't get to use it.

I am a bit of a steel nerd, so I've wound up with a bunch of Spyderco Mules in different steels that I wind up taking hunting pretty often too, I believe I used my most recent MagnaMax version for one deer this year.
