What's Your Non-Truck Hunting Rig?

Do you have a better pic of the sleeping platform you made? How tall are you? Would a 6'1 guy be able to sleep in the back?

I wish I would have got one of these instead of the Pathfinder I ended up getting.

Had a 17 Jetta that actually hauled quite a few deer for me. Sold it a couple months ago because Carvana offer was too good on keeping a third vehicle. The Jetta actually had a decent sized trunk and got 40mpgs.

I'll get some better pics for you tomorrow or over the weekend. Luckialy I am 6'3" and fit great. If the passanger seat is ran all the way back its tight, however, it literally goes forward like 10" so I have plenty of room.

I looked at those also but settled on the GX.

Honestly, all the sound deadening is really nice, as pussy as that sounds. Its dead quiet and not fatiguing to drive on a long trip or after a long hunt. I guess I am getting soft but the jeep cherokee with all the wind noise, motor noise and tire hum was getting old.

I’m 6ft and I can comfortably sleep in the back of my 4Runner. I made these platforms to create a flat surface. When the back seats are folded back up, these just stack in the back cargo area. Sure is nice to be able to roll up to a trailhead or a hunting area, especially if it’s cold or raining, and just climb in the back and go to sleep!

How does that bike do up the steepest of trails? What about with all that weight? I am looking at something similar for my 71yo dad. He is in great shape for his age but 71 is 71.

I have two non-truck rigs. 2005 Xterra is the go-to. Stock suspension fits Cooper AT3 33’s just fine. I did remove (fully unbolted) the back seats about five years ago, so it is a permanent 2-seater. Cuts down on free-loading buddies . Removing the seats really opened a ton of space for multiple coolers and sleeping. Other rig is the main family vehicle, 2016 Subaru Forrester. Really looking to use it for more trips going forward. Next set of tires will be true AT. I appreciate the dual-range transfer case on the Xterra for those truly gnarly situations, but the base AWD on the Subaru has been really impressive navigating generally sloppy/snowy roads and two tracks.

Better than most others, the Bakcou Mule 1000 is the most powerful ebike built specifically for backcountry use but with a heavy trailer and hunter wearing a pack (over 450lb load) you aren't speeding uphill.
Without the trailer it screams at 9mph, 30 on the flat.

I used to run the old Suzuki sidekicks but the last ten years have been Jeep’s. I had a TJ until there were three kids and if it was just me and another person it would still be a two door. Winch on the front and one on the back. Many animals took a ride to my freezer in the back of this thing.

Then it became the family version

I had two kids in car seats and three days worth of gear in with this moose.
