Either sticking with day six 250 spine and the 50 grain outsert or going back to Easton axis arrows and iron will hit inserts with impact collars probably just stay with the day six and 4 fletch they did well for me

Isn't that the truth! I remember well the days of overdraws and bemans. Tall brace heights, tooth pick arrows and 300 fps was a pipe dream. Look at us now. 270 plus fps with arrows that could double as jack handles.

I shot last night in the snow -- 510 grains has a significantly different impact "thud" than the carbon express 8 GPI arrow I was shooting in 2000.

Just started archery this October and started hunting this weekend-mule deer (or a Coues if the hunting gods grant me such luck).
I only run 55# due to old shoulder injury at 28.5”DL and am still on my starter dozen arrows, but they do pretty well.

Victory V-Force Gamers, 300 spine, 9.7gpi, 28.25” nock valley to insert, Blazers, 100gr Slick Trick Standards at 255fps, (425gr total, 11.04 FOC)64F64062-B641-4734-8C09-923A5E31223D.jpeg2F681F63-3E93-4BEB-9D19-63CE745AA980.jpeg

Gold Tip Hunter XT 250 spine. 50 gr facts weight, 3 blazers, 100 gr exodus, about 530 gr total weight. I bow hunt elk with this setup and hunt deer with a 180 grain bullet from a 300 win mag. But Imagine this setup would also be successful with blacktail deer.

Found some axis realtree shafts on amazon for an absolute steal, so that’s what I’m going with. I had been shooting GT hunter xts for a while but the axis were cheaper to build than the GT.

.300 spine
100 grain slicktrick mag or reaper whitetail special
50 grain brass hit insert
Either Easton or IW collars
3 helical blazers
28.5” carbon to carbon

Should weigh in about 495-500 grains. Haven’t built them out yet. They should hit like bricks.

Ended up going 75 grains of brass instead of 50. Bareshaft tuned to 10 yards last night before running out of light. I will continue tuning this weekend.

Arrows finished at 530 grains. They should be bumping along around 275fps out of my RX3 turbo. Pretty excited to hunt with this setup.

300 Axis, 75 gr brass insert, 125 gr Magnus black hornet A little over 500 grains. Just need something a little larger than a grouse to see how they work!

Actually shooting grouse is a great indicator of how durable your arrows are. Pass through the grouse and hit rocks and gravel and see how well they hold up. If they can hit rocks and such and stay together, larger animals are no problem.

Agreed.

I had two different setups last year that I was testing - went out small game hunting (squirrels, grouse, rabbits) before season. One setup didn’t like to stay together and one setup I couldn’t break if I tried.

VAP TKO with Easton Titanium Half Out busted every time.

RIP TKO with HIT insert and Iron Will Impact Collar was damn near indestructible.
