What’s the plan for your taxidermy after you die?

I have one of my Dads...I think the rest are still in Moms garage somewhere, although he wasn't a big antler keeper to begin with

My plan doesn't matter, I'm dead.

No different than anything else you collect. your dead stuff is sold, disposed and a few items collected. My personal take is, I enjoy looking at them everyday until I’m gone and is money well spent. If taxidermy is done well, it is very good decades later. To each their own. Been told by many hunters and none, when they come in they feel relaxed and enjoy the view. One has come over just to sit and decompress. Now the other room with hundreds of tines is only for the fanatics like myself

I don’t get into the taxidermy. They are cool but I think it’s a huge waste of money and they look terrible after time passes. I do euro mounts but this season I was like my walls are filling up and this is stupid really. I focus on the meat and always have so I never cared if I shot a 160 or a spike. They all taste good. But I think in the end dog chews or hike em back out to the mountains and let someone find them as dead heads or something. No attachent whatsoever. I have the hunt memories and that’s what matters to me. However I hunt solo so those also go with me

How taxidermy looks over time is very dependent on the quality of the work. A lot of the stuff our fathers and grandfathers had was borderline amateur and looked that way. My oldest shoulder mount buck has cracking ears and nose and otherwise looks okay. I just assumed all mounts got cracks like that until I had another buck mounted. The taxidermist showed me one in his shop that was 25 years old and looked like he had just done it. I have several more mounts that same guy did and they look great over time.

I don't have kids. I'm sure mine will end up in a land fill. I probably won't care.
