You should post the list they choose from and let people pick that way. I looked it up last year when I was watching season one, I was surprised at some of the items they can choose from.

Vancouver Island you say? Can I get an axe and some rope? After surviving a day or two I would have a nice raft built and then cross over to my Uncle's place. I would still be alone while he was down in the city....but technically that's probably outside of the rules.....

Yeah that would definitely be the thing to do!! It most survival situations they say its best to keep moving, however for the shows sake its more of a see who can stay in one spot and last the longest.

Not sure the locals accept visa, might bring a MasterCard as well.

Better to bring sugar, coffee, booze, and tabacco (non whacky).

I would bring:
Grundens set
Down jacket
Long underwear
Axe
Firekit
Fishing pole and tackle
Socks
Xtra tuffs
Large pot
Tarp

Bruce, I would for sure take that prostetic leg you pulled off that old gal. Talk about being handy as a shirt pocket.

Number one would have to be coffee, because if I didn't bring coffee I'd start killing the rest of the people after day one and I guess win by attrition.

That's the show's official format however, their 2nd season featured 9 ppl and one big black pussy who talked smack the day before his insertion about how they'd hafta drag him on the island or help defend the bear if he got into a "bear fight" cuz he ain't leavin'! Then he hears a bear, crapped his britches and tapped out before dusk. He was there for a few hours! WUSS!!! That guy needs a hysterectomy. I am absolutely certain his friends torment him with bear growls whenever they can.

Dude! You had bear spray!

I really thought the gal from AK whose only concern was her wet boots was gonna do well...but she took a down bag and let it get wet. Doh! All their shelters suck IMO. If I were there I would wrap that big azz tarp they get around a dense collection of tree trucks lashed together in tipi fashion with duct tape. Once covered I would wrap the outside of the tarp with duct tape to solidify the shelter and would have some of my tarp beneath the poles so I had a floor everywhere except where my stove would be. I would create an interior rock wall along the perimeter of the tipi to make it sturdier and keep critters out. It would be much more difficult for a bear, bugs or anything else to enter, I wouldn't hafta worry about being cold in a week long rainstorm and I would be able to stand up in it. A circular trench around it with a drain exit so runoff is channeled away from the shelter could prevent a lot of water issues (if necessary). My wood would be inside the tipi always getting dried. Simple right? I look at the crappy shelters they put up and I think, "WTF are you thinking?" Then I realize they aren't.

This type of shelter is relatively simple to make and you could comfortably last a nice long time in it.

Lol! Yeah your exactly right about just 9 ppl!! Yeah im surprised how crappy the shelters are. They have had gobs of time to practice shelter building you think they would have a plan. Two most important things. #1 FIRE #2 Shelter

My only criticism is your Survival knife w/hollow handle that stores stuff. Get a full tang knife if you want it to last.

I do like your case of TP :)
