I recommend you stick with the major brands and buy used. The major brands hold their value so you can always repost it and get your money back.
I also would look at a 5500 or larger unless you are a experienced minimalist packer.
I like the removable bag packs ( Stone Glacier, EXO, etc...) Find one that fits right and you can change bags to fit your needs. Remember to test it with weight! That’s where you see the difference .
That being said I myself run the Stone Glacier Sky 5900. it’s large enough for longer hunts or weekend hikes with the family ( I seem to be the packhorse 😊) It also is able to be run in bivy-mode for shorter or day hunts. Bit large for day hunts but it works. And you will love it when you knock something down.
Once you get one of the better packs you will kick yourself for not doing it earlier.

That’s honestly the first time I’ve ever heard anyone that has used both Kifaru and KUIU make that statement...I’m guessing those experiences are few and far between but good for you.

Regarding the OP’s question, yes, I would look for lightly used here in the classifieds.
I hesitated for a second with that post because of the Kifaru diehards and Kuiu bashers on here, but that was my experience. I understand not everyone will have the same experience. Everyone's body shapes are different.

I split a post rut muley buck with a dude 60 pounds heavier than me (former pro athlete so it’s not like he’s fat). He was running the new Mystery Ranch frame and I Kuiu. And honestly I think it whipped us both equally.

Agree with the suggestions to buy used. If you don’t like it sell it and try something else. Kinda what you have to do considering most of us don’t have retailers carrying these brands locally.
