What to re-barrel a 6.5 PRC to?

7 prc ? All currently have brass availably issues
If you can get saum brass, that would be a good choice

Looking to go 7mm flavor.....

Can a 6.5 PRC bolt face handle a 7 SAUM case? 7 Sherman Short?
What action is it? PRC uses a magnum bolt face which is the same among all of the WSM/SAUM cartridges. 7 SS is a wildcat based off 7 SAUM that plays nicer at short action mag lengths with long bullets. If it is a long action you can do any of the long action magnums as well.

It is a short action

7 SS is the best short action mag fed design IMO but SAUM or WSM can work fine as well just have to throat it appropriately.

Make sure you can get brass and dies for whatever direction you go.

I'd go 7 SAUM due to brass availability alone. You've got Norma, Nosler, ADG, and Remington to choose from all which is good brass. 7 WSM only has Winchester and Hornady to my knowledge, Winchester brass is good but near impossible to find most of the time like Remington brass, and Hornady brass is soft garbage. Everything I've ever loaded with Hornady brass has has half of the primer pockets toast on the first firing, second firing does in most of what's left.

I wouldn't even consider a 7 PRC until someone other than Hornady starts putting out brass.

SAUM will also be easiest on the barrel.

7 PRC won't fit in a short action anyway.

In no particular order three 7mm short action cartridges to consider where brass is generally available. You’d have to neck up the 7-6.5 but that’s easy.
7 SS
7-6.5 PRC
7 RSAUM

FWIW I have not had such a bad experience with Hornady brass in a couple of cartridges. I put it in the same category as Norma. You might not get as many reloads out of it as say Lapua but if you don’t try to hammer it and push it way hard you can get fine performance and good life out of it. I have a 6.5CM 130gn 2950fps load in Hornady that’s going on 8 or 9 reloads. That’s not a light sub par load by any means. At this rate 100 pieces of brass has a good chance of taking this barrel all the way to the end of its life.
