Welcome to the land of people trying things and believing evidence produced by trials! It’s called Rokslide, cool pistols or actual hand cannons!
Thanks! Your post put a smile on my face.
Since the late 80's, I cannot tell you how many times, I have been told on forums or in person:
You are making things up.
That can't be done.
You didn't shoot that far.
There is no way you killed that big game animal or prairie dog that far with a specialty pistol.
You cannot use the same powders that rifle length barrels use in your short barrels.
That is not efficient, so you will have terrible accuracy.
You can't use that cartridge in a action that is shorter than a short action Remington action (338 Lapua Improved/338AX by APS/Kirby Allen is the largest I have ever had built).
You will have to take the bolt out of your XP to load it, and even unload it after you have fired the shot.
You can't use a high magnification rifle scope on a specialty pistol safely.
And the list continues....
bUt yOu WoNt get 100% poWdeR burn!
On a serious note, I'd look at TBAC magnus for short barreled magnums as well unless a guy had to have a more modular end cap.
Since this conversation got revived, @Ernie you may want to check out the new prototype that Unknown Suppressors is coming out with. I think I heard Jake call it the NHS (Not Hearing Safe) during the last podcast, but Ken from SRS posted about it on the Long Range Hunting forum (https://www.longrangehunting.com/threads/a-new-type-of-suppressor.386087/)
Considering you bigger boomers are probably not going to be hearing safe out of a handgun-length barrel anyway, having the added brake recoil impule of this suppressor will be very beneficial when using rifle scopes on the longer range handguns.
I read the thread and didn't even really think about this application until the guys were talking about it on the last podcast and it popped into my brain. I think it has a real application on the handguns that shoot larger cartridges. It would remove all of the muzzle blast common with the brakes but still have the recoil reduction so you could use the higher magnification rifle scopes on the handguns.
Now that there will be no $200 tax on SBRs after Jan 1, I am seriously contemplating picking up a left-handed Tikka action and building it into a long range hunting handgun. I think a 6.5-284 with a 15" barrel and this NHS suppressor on it would be the ticket.
