Currently selling our home DIY, closing the 18th. Building new home 1100 miles away. Moving wife to said location 1100 miles away in a few weeks, 5.5 months to retirement. Packing, cleaning, property, prepping campers and utility trailers. DIY move March 1st. Three WY tags in my pocket to fill next month. So much, so little time.

Clients and co-workers.

I am amazed at how people let things they cannot control stress them out. It is the figurative equivalent of beating you head against the wall. Learn to focus on what you can control or influence. Don't sweat the rest.

Put my Mom in a Memory Care facility Tuesday.
I feel low as worm dung.

You shouldn't bud. You are being responsible and doing the best thing for the care of your mother. Dementia and alzheimers arent a joke and she will need professional care.

Thanks for the comments. We took her out to eat and had her nails done this past weekend. I've been a wreck the whole time, knowing it was coming. I know its the right thing to do but it sure dont make it easier. At the rate she's going, this will probably be her last Christmas.
I cant imagine.

Cutting stressors and learning to say no are important things. However, sometimes the right choice causes stress and the people who will avoid those stressors are not really the people I want around me. So I disagree with some earlier posters to an extent. One thing that helps is always knowing your alternatives, however undesirable they are. The extreme example is someone putting a gun to your head, no one can make you do anything. Though they can exert some powerful coercion, telling them to pound sand is still an option. Less extreme example, telling your boss no because what they want you to do is fraud knowing that you have to pay back 20K in moving expenses if you get fired or quit and the community you work is small enough you would need to move to get another job, and your wife is pregnant. Been there, but the right choice is pretty bloody obvious to me and I never look at the people who chooses to cut the stress and go along the same again.

Same goes for helping family. Some things are small and don't really matter, or someone else can take care of them. But at other times the right thing is to embrace that monster in a full on bear hug and go for a role in the dirt. However, to do that, one must know their own limits. You cannot rescue someone who is drowning if you are drowning yourself and the most appropriate thing in such a situation is to break away, reset, reassess, and decide how to act.

Things that stress me out currently.

Balancing school, work, and family time is stressful. At the moment I have pretty much cut everything else out of my life and that has helped.

Work. My current boss is really solid. However, there is a lack of support for training and adequate staffing at the CEO level and it creates needless risk. Current assessment is that it is not worth leaving at the moment and there are worse places I could end up working.

The political wilderness. The party I once agreed with has lost its mind and the other one still has all the stupidity that I disagree with and has piled a little more on.

At the moment I'm in luck and most things in life are either not my problem, or are stable. That certainly has not always been the case though.

One thing to consider is that your life is happening right now as you read this, not when you opened this thread or what you will be doing in 60 seconds.

Try to always enjoy what is in front of your face and work to make what is in front of your face enjoyable.

I can only imagine thats hard as hell, but I work in EMS and i can tell you your doing the best thing possible for your mom. We have a memory care nursing home in our town and they do amazing work with their patients. There are also have several families who dont put them in and their family members leave the house and go on walks and disappear for hours, we just had an elderly man come to our Firehouse who should be in a memory care unit but his family "wants to do the right thing" and take care of him themselves, obviously they are doing him a disservice by this.

Again i know there is a massive stigma about people abandoning their parents at a nursing home but just know this isnt one of those cases, you obviously love your mom and are doing the right thing

When I was younger, my grandparents lived with us. My grandfather was getting worse, he would sleep for an hour wake up thinking it was breakfast, it would be 11pm. Fortunately we had someone for the day's, which ironically he slept mostly. Evening and nights myself and my dad covered. We all had fulltime jobs, it were us out. He finally had to go into hospice. We felt bad but we couldn't do it anymore, physically or mentally. Good luck

My boss, Its really a horrible person. Hes a bully, manipulator, liar and harasses people all the time. HR knows about it and does nothing. I am next in line and hes set to retire in 3 years. I want to quit but the company I work for is an awesome 5th gen family owned company. The owners and other people in the company are flat out awesome. Im not going to lie but I have quit on my boss so many times then realize I am just quitting on the company. I get back busy and keep on grinding.

I can not worry about most things like putting a dent in my new truck but then I’ll be heading to the trail head and stressing about how many cars will be there. Odd.

I do stress over my job a bit. I have been really lucky and I feel like it’s just a matter of time before it all crashes down.
I stress about all the cars at trail heads as well and who might be hunting my lil honey hole.

I havent read this book but it has good reviews, may help some on here that are feeling more stressed than they should be - The Subtle Art of Not Giving a F*ck:

Edit - the recent reviews definitely arent so good, wondering what mob the author pissed off.

How much more traffic is on the local beach. 15 years ago it was pretty sparse.

I thought I had some stressors. Then I read through these pages.
Actually think I feel better now.
