Good point and I was being somewhat pedantic to illustrate what I first considered to be a poorly-defined rubric for the Colorado law, but now I wonder if this wording was fashioned with a sinister purpose in mind. Indeed, the term "gas operated" has a colloquial meaning as you stated, but I now suspect that the technical definition will be used later to ban all semi-automatic firearms in Colorado simply through the process of jurisprudence.Technically correct, and I don't know how "gas operated" is defined within CO law, but in technical parlance gas operated is generally understood to mean that gas is being tapped off the barrel or muzzle at some point as opposed to using the force applied by gas to the case head as in blowback or recoil operation.
Which I'm pretty sure you know and are just being a bit pedantic.
