I also have my bow in my hand unless its dark or just laying tracks covering ground.
I seen Corey R. had something on his belt that he was able to hang his bow from during a quick look thru his glass. Looked pretty slick but don't know what it was.
I use a one piece longbow and use it as a trekking pole a lot if needed. I use mine pretty hard here in Montana. When it gets dinged up enough I send it back to my bowyer for a touch up and she’s good to go again. I don’t like not having it in my hand unless I have a few miles in the dark of unobstructed hiking which doesn’t usually happen.Any trad hunters have solutions for longbows? Seems like the only viable option is to have a 2-piece takedown.
EDITED TO ADD: There is some steep country where I need to use both hands at times.
