So myself and buddies are heading to the gila tomorrow. We will be packing in quite some distance. Was curious, from peoples past experience, what did you forget you wished you hadn't? I will check this thread all the way until 1400 MST tomorrow. Thank you in advance.

Forgot my hat on my deer hunt last week. Not a huge deal but when your glassing all day a hat much needed.

I once forgot my beanie and gloves. The chilly morning glassing sessions were kind of miserable without them.

My release and I was pissed luckily it was only whitetail hunting local but still killed my day. I wear it from the moment I leave home every time I'm headed out after a critter now to eliminate that issue.

I've done that before too. Now I just attach it to the handle of my bow immediately after taking it off. Hasn't been an issue since.

I was headed for central Nevada this year. When I was over four hours from the house I realized I had forgot my bow. Biggest bonehead move I've pulled in a long time. Glad it was a solo hunt so it only screwed me up.

the most irritating was forgetting a beanie to sleep in. but there have been other memorable experiences.

i opened up the gun case on one hunt and had a 300 mag bolt for a 30-06. i figured i had one shot and would need a cleaning rod to drive out the case - but never got a shot.

another that i get still get some jesting over is going to shoot p dogs with a bunch of 6 br ammo and getting ready to screw on the barrel and what do ya know i brought a ppc barrel. lucky i had other rifles to shoot that trip.

other buds have been along that have left out such things as their elk tag, sleeping bag, silverware, stove, and rain gear.

Surprisingly, one year I actually forgot food. Of course I had my coffee, and even had a few snacks in the pack, but completely forgot about food for lunch and dinner. Duh. Shot a few grouse on that trip.

One year I forgot the keys to the toy hauler trailer that was attached to the truck I was driving. Remembered when I was 6 hours away from home, the wife met me halfway with the keys. I now keep a spare set in the truck console just in case.

Last week I forgot my harness with my rangefinder, and binoculars. Consequently, I blew two shots on the biggest buck I've seen in 2014. I'm still pissed at myself.

Buddy and I once forgot the pack saddle for the mule we hauled all the way from MO to CO. So we had a mule to pony along all week with no load just having a good old time. He was an aggregating mule and it was even worse when he was fresh and not working. He caused us more problems that week than you can imagine.
