I bought a whole setup from a gentleman who has been reloading for over 60 years. Seemed a shame not to take everything so it would get used. Now I gotta really clean up my bench and plot a new strategy for 2 rock chuckers

Loaded up a pressure test for my 7mm-08 with H4350 and R16 for 160 Accubonds. If I can get even close to 2700 sanely in the Tikka, this may be my winner (hoping)

H4350 got it there, but felt hotter than I was happy with (and QuickLoad even agreed I was around 66kpsi)

R16 ran out of sane powder space at 2640 ish, but, was not too hot. Gonna run 10 of these next range trip and see. Slower than I am happy with, but accuracy is king.

Loaded some fireforming loads for new brass in my new 22-250. Testing to get something reasonably accurate before setting up my dies and doing serious load development. Should be able to shoot them this afternoon and see how they do.

Ok fine I'll tell you how it went.

With a pretty well-proven charge of 40.0gr of W760 (I'm not using my stash of Varget or H4895 for this) and a 50gr Speer bullet, I got a 5 shot group hovering at and inch with zero attention paid to special prep. Pushed the shoulder forward an average of 6.5 thousandths! Good enough for this purpose, so I'm going to load the remainder as such and shoot to get familiar with the rifle.

What's more promising is the velocity on everything has continued to increase as the barrel breaks in. I charted everything in Excel (nerd) and drew some trend lines and they're all up and to the right!

Finally trying the 208 ELDMs in my 300 Win Mag. Had a bunch of plated Barnes brass and a pile of Hornady brass as well. 73gr, 73.5 & 74gr of IMR 7828 SSC book says they should be close to 2900 at 74gr.

Not pictured is 410gr Hornady SUBx 45/70 loads with 41gr IMR 3031 in Starline brass

Finally killed the last of my IMR-4166. I generally liked the Enduron powders, especially 4451, but I never could get 4166 to do anything well. It's been stale on the shelf for three years and I just used it for some 150gr 30-06 practice loads. Chapter closed!

Interesting. There seems to be some areas where that powder shines. I’ve seen a few guys have success in both 308 and 6gt specifically. What cartridge did you use it in or try to use it in?

Went to the range early and shot the last 4 charge weights with 77gr bthp in 22-250 ackley. Got a great group with the highest charge and nice low sd at around 3160. Then I loaded 8 more of them to try and 7 of the 77tmk with the same stats and jump to try. Using h4831 in those

Then loaded 30- 55gr sierra sbt in 22-250 for dialing in and 10- 143 eldx for 6.5x55. Those are both proven loads that get 3600 and 2900 respectively. This is for a switch barrel tikka I'm working on with 3 factory barrels. 22-250, 308 and 6.5x55. Not sure if I'll actually switch barrels but just monkeying around to see if I can swap them around with any degree of repeatability. I need to figure out a good repeatable mount system but don't want a rail. Using leupold windage adjustable right now so I'll see how that goes. Also need a better optic to replace the bushnell 3200 5-15×40 that's currently riding on it.

I agree. I had one good result with it in the '06 loads I mentioned, but in the 223 and 22-250 it was accurate but with lame velocity, the opposite in the 30-30, and it was flat out dangerous in my 416 Remington (horrible pressure signs from the start). I'm sure in the huge landscape of cartridges there are places it works really well, just not for anything on my shelf.

Of that line of powders, I think 4451 was the best one, and I still have about 2/3 of a pound of it left. Works exceedingly well in the 270 and '06 with most bullet weights.

Had to ditch my N570 load for the 25-284 as temp stability was terrible. Went back to 52.3gr H1000 and am consistently around 2,900 fps with 11.1 SD/36.3 ES from freezing to 80 degrees. Shouldn't have messed with a good thing. Did some antelope scouting yesterday and hit a prairie dog @ 375yd and killed a 2-liter coke bottle @ 520yd.

Put a scope on a new build and got test loads ready for my new waypoint 6.5 creedmoor.

Finally got the 6.5 WSM degreased, loct-tited, and torqued, including the trigger housing screw. Thanks to whoever, posted that thread about checking it out. Mine was oily as heck. Degreased and bonded SRS 20 MOA rail and degreased and loc-tited/paint penned the SWFA SS 3-9 HD.

Loaded up first pressure test rounds with N565 and 147 ELDM. Started at 62 and last is 66, and we'll see how it goes.
