What did you do in the reloading room today?

I set up to start reloading for my first time today.

Stuck 2 of my first 10 223 cases in the FL sizing die and called it a day. After I stuck the first one and got it out, I thought, I used plenty of lube, there's no way that happens again.......

Happens to everybody, wait until you’re not frustrated and go for it again.

What lube are you using? How are you applying? And what dies? Have you cleaned them?

What’s your load?

This morning was 7.8gr Accurate #7. It felt like light recoil and didn't cycle properly. I had a lot of stovepipe going on. I'm spicing it up a little. I usually run 7.8gr of #7 under a 124 Truncated cone bullet.

Probably a hot load, so copy at your own risk kinda thing, Lol.

I cleaned the dies beforehand with brake clean and q-tips. I was using a forster die and one shot sprayed at 45 degree angle from two sides, somewhat liberally. The cases were deprimed and tumble cleaned beforehand, also.

If you're using a single stage, ensure your shell holder is a decently snug fit. If I recall, when I loaded .223 on my Rock Chucker, I used an rcbs or hornady shell holder...Anyway, it was a little too sloppy and the rims would get pulled through. Bought a different shell holder and it was a much better fit, never had the issue again.

Let the One shot spray sit for at least a minute after you spray it on before running it into the sizing die

I don't have a shell holder, I'm using a co-ax with jaws........... wait a minute. I didn't flip them. Yep, that's the ticket, I'm back in business!

I definitely read the manual and watched a ton of tutorials before I started....nope. None of that.

Justin, willing to share more on what you’re using for your reloading and how your room is set up? I would like to redo mine and utilize the space better.

Prepped 15 Remington 264 WM brass. Bought a box of 129 grain Hornady interlocks to try in them.

Tested using my rock tumblers I had sitting around in the shop with some Hornady tumbling media to see how good of job it would do? I’m impressed with it overall

Back at it for a more productive 2nd day.

- sized, primed, loaded 100 6arc 108 eldm with 28.5 gr lever
- sized, deprimed, tumbled 120 6 cm
- sized, deprimed, tumbled 360 6.5 cm
- sized, chamfered, primed, loaded my first batch of RS special: 23.5 gr varget, 77 tmk, 2.285 coal - just sized to fit in factory tikka mags (20 are 73 eldm)



I thought this would be a cool winter hobby, but it's no fun when you can't shoot and verify things. -24f with the wind chill today.

Like baking cookies you can't eat.

I accidentally spilled an MTM box of 257 Robts reloads that consisted of 2 different projectiles, 3 different powders and multiple charge weights. Spent almost 2 hours weighing, sorting and guestimating their order back in the box. Feeling confident that I got it right.

First time that's ever happened since I started reloading in the early '70s.

I've done that before and now write in the case with marker.

Same here. Marker on the case helps prevent that!
