What did you do at the range today?

Wind finally died down from 60 mph, so I got out to shoot my 223 loads at distance today. Wind blowing 10-15 mph off my back left from about 8 o’clock. Shot 112, 200, 282, 356, 465, 490, 600 at steel targets. Repainted everything and then shot a 10 round group at 600. I was pretty impressed with the group even with gusty winds. Then I shot a few more rounds quickly at all distances just trying to be on a time crunch. Went 29/30 on impacts, missed one at 490 due to not dialing down from 600 and shooting high. A lot of rounds down the tube on the 223 trainer the last few months and I’m really getting more comfortable with my wind calls.

Ran up to my pistol range only to find the road going in was freshly graded and had tracks running up it. Oh well, knew its time was coming. Was nice while it lasted.

Ran all over the place trying to find a pit I stumbled onto this spring. Know I was close but never could find the damn thing

So plan C ended up being here


Was a 22 day. Cz P01 got a kadet slide tossed at it. Unit1 on the 1911 and then the ruger. All were dirty as hell and bone dry. Ammo is of varying age and potency



The ruger went down first, stuggled but then stayed down lol. I didnt know you could do that lol

Unit1 has always been a bit of a princess but it put up a decent fight.

The cz bobbled a few times but came out the champ in this lil accidental neglect test

New scope on the m77



SIghted in off the hood at 50ish yrds using my trash ammo. Then swapped over to the powerpoints. Just shooting at bullet holes. But accuracy seemed to get better with more rounds of decent ammo down the tube..




All in all. Pretty decent day

Today was pistol day, did about 100rds of fundamental work using irons sites.

Testing 115 dtacs in my 12.5# prs rig. 2026 will mark my 6th year of shooting competitively. I'm stepping away from the 25# race gun scene and getting back to a more hunting setup roots. It's 12.5# as you see it, without bipod.
MDT crbn, tl3, 24in rem varm ace 7.5tw cut in 169fb 6gt. Vortexs new 4-24 gen3 razor and a nomad ti XC with a Charlie brake out front.

Running 36.1gr H4350 at 2815mv, shoots really well 55-60k off, as in half moa 10 shot groups at distance. I can typically hold it on a 4" circle at 300y in hi/low standing hi/low kneeling positional practice. Should still be competitive in our local WPR league, however the forgiving weight of the race gun will be missed on unstable props!

Dorked around with dialing in a new scope on my 10/22 at the backyard range. Dialed it 7 clocks left after this 10 rounder.

CCI Standard Vel, remains the champ in this gun (and damn good in all my 22LR guns).
