What did you do at the range today?

Yeah, I would say this will absolutely bleeping work! And I called the "flyer" to boot! (Was the last round of the group, got excited and rushed it).

48 grains of N555, 2675 FPS. That's 2k FPS to 540, north of 1800 to 720, and inside the Hornady claimed expansion window to a bit past 900 (at my elevation). With no more recoil than a 308. Sweetness!

So, the 7x57 has liked 162 and 175 ELD-X's, so I wondered what it would think of the 150's? Turns out, it likes those a lot too (but not quite as much as the 175's and 162s). This is a composited group of 10 rounds. 150 ELD-X, 49.5 grains of N555, stupid-good ES/SD (4.1 SD, 10 FPS ES), 2768 FPS average. That's north of 2K FPS to 560 yards, north of 1800 to 720, and in Hornady's published expansion window to 900 (super similar to the 162).

I also ran 5 more 162 ELD-X's (my last 5, sadly - I'ma have to buy more of those), and then composited that group with the one from yesterday. Dayum - it bumped up the MR a touch (0.18 to 0.25), but that's 10 rounds into 0.65 MOA, off a kind of half-ass bench built out of 2x4's, in my back yard, from two 5 round groups shot a day apart. I can't believe I was the guy behind the trigger; who knew I could shoot this well? LOL To say I'm over the moon would be an understatement.

Drug a couple AR's and a 243 up the hill today.

Have not really shot that 243 in quite some time, been even longer since I shot paper with it. Accuracy is not what it should be. Everything is tight, might swap out the scope just for fun. Thinkin it might be barrel time though.

Still a nice day..

Have an elk shoot coming up and very few rifles that are large enough to be legal that are also ready to go. Kinda an odd problem to have :ROFLMAO:

243 is back in timeout. I picked up a 6.5x55 a while back. Bandsawed the barrel down to 18" and then forgot about the thing. So I pulled that out and gave it a go.

Swfa 5-20 needs to go elsewhere. Damn nice scope, but not for this gun. Unsure if I'll slap a 6x or a 3-9 on it.

Every
Single
Time.

I’m going to have to cut the barrel on every rifle I have for practice. 😀

Mine will be tuned before I cut the next one.
The hacksaw ain’t working. Lotta file work to get one close.

File's :ROFLMAO: who's got time for that? Bandsaw or a zip wheel.squarish it off with a flap wheel. Break the edge of the crown with a carbide and your done. M12 die grinder works nice for this..

I'm 3 for 3 doin it that way..

You going to knock my mailbox off the post tonight?
Quit kicking me. 😁

Swapped out the 5-20 for another 6x. Got the 6.5x55 sighted back in and then looking for pressure. Interesting how fast staball6.5 comes on!

New flat trigger in the P01. Really like that! Also slapped a big dot front sight on it. Not really a fan of that.

Knocked the dust off a couple revolvers and a 1911. Then spent the day offhand with a 22, as my off hand shooting has went to shit.

Notta bad day

My youngest is studying revolutionary war history here lately. I don't have a flintlock but wanted to show him how muzzleloaders work (his older sisters understand muzzleloaders, but only in a modern context).

So we loaded the old Hawken up today and shot it a handful of times. Well, *I* shot it. Kids just stood there and ooohed and ahhhed at the smoke.

So, how long have you had that 'remington five pounder' can of .22lr?

I'm guessing that was made later 70's or early 80's?

Well I wasnt around in the early 80's. Although theres a good chance I "aquired" it from my old man at some point. But I've topped that can off a time or two :ROFLMAO:

Shot my new Nomad TI XC and Maven RS 1.2
I will never shoot without a can again.
Groups shrunk about 25%, and I didn't need ears at all. And this scope is the shit!
