What cartridge for Alaska and western big game?

So here is my 2 cents and the logic behind it. Stick to the 6.5 creed. The 7-08 & 308 are still the same case. Some have made a valid argument for the 6.5 prc with 1 exception, you want factory ammo in remote places. The 6.5 creed is like the #1 hunting rifle right now, love it or hate it, your ammo is on the shelf with variety. You can get 140 gr barnes for moose etc, and easily. Would I chase coastal brown bears with my 6.5 creed, probably not my 1st choice, but I'll bet its lethal with proper placement.

If I could change 1 part of your plan, it would be for you to handload. You can go from a 95 vmax for antelope and light critters to a 160gr solid should you find it necessary.

Bears don't drop instantly from anything unless it's a CNS shot. Bore size is irrelevant to that. Even SD doesn't matter much if you just want penetration. Bullet construction matters more. Get a non-expanding copper or hard cast.

There's nothing in Alaska that he can't kill and has been killed with his 6.5.
There's no difference to a bear with a 6.5 to the CNS or a 375. Outcome is identical.

30-06, 308 and 6.5cm are by far the most common and it's not even close to anything else. 6.5CM probably has the most loadings of anything.
I didn't say it can't be killed with a 6.5. Its starting out with less. I bet you pick underdog teams too. To each there own. Back to cns shots...hit one with a 6.5 143 eldx in the skull and watch what happens. Hit it with a .30 'cal 200 grain swift a frame and call me back. I don't bank on luck. I live in bear country as do you potentially, and only a fool calls a 6.5 bear medicine.

lol. 😆

So, in retrospect, we seem to all be in agreement with .3o/o6!
I love the 30-06. Its the square body chevy. Does it all pretty well. If one is recoil shy on on a magnum my go to is the 30-06 and 308. Hell for the thinner is better crowd the 7mm-08 is alright, much better than a 6 IMO

You also stop bears by breaking bones and structure. This isn't about clean kills. It is about not being eaten. Hit one in the skeletal structure with a 6.5 soft bullet like an eld-x and call me back. I'll send flowers to your funeral

Appears you replied to your own post and then called yourself a moron. Is that correct
Do any of you post anything other than your boots? Establish some credibility. Post some mountains...Or do you live in las angelas and just vacay hunt...
