What bino harness?

I found the Kuiu ok. I thought it wasn't very functional for 1 handed use (large with Nikon 10x42's). I also didn't like how the back was open. When hunting in thicker bush this became a funnel for leaves and debris. Its been sold and i'm using a Rick Young. When I upgrade my binos this year I'll make the switch to an ADAK bino harness I think. Unless Kifaru have theirs out an it looks worthy.

I didn't know kifaru is coming out with one. Have there been any leaks yet?

Anyone think the price of these things are to high? Compared to the amount of material on a full size pack I think it’s a little much lol.

while i do agree with you, the price is what hunters will pay. we've grown to accept inflated prices for tech and purpose specific items. how many of you thought a decade back that a $200 pair of pants was a good deal?

Found this harness about 6 years ago, $20 on clearance. Very minimalist oriented. Holds them tight to the chest for stalking and fairly easy single handed use.

I run the Alps extreme bino harness. It is one of the lightest on the market that I could find at the time. 11 oz I believe. I made a pouch that connects to the side of the harness for my range finder. I would say that I am an ounce counter also so I was concerned about the weight. But know that I have one I love it. Standard equipment now. I have laid down in snow with no protective harness and messed with my binos for a couple of hours. Doesn't make you very happy when you are hunting elk and binos are your friend.

Started with the S4 and found it clumsy and awkward. Switched to the KUIU (not the newer pro model) and it has functioned very well. I do agree the open back does allow for debris. But I find I can operate it quietly with one hand (Leopold 8x42) and have since added the rangefinder pouch. The rangefinder pouch is a little tight so I’m hoping it breaks in a little. Using a sig 1600 in it.

Has anyone tried out the new bino pouch from Hill People Gear? I think it may only mount to HPG kit bags, but it looked good in the few pics I saw.

What bino chest harness for backpack, backcountry hunts? Has to fit Swaro EL Range 10x42s and SIG KILO 2000 RF, wind checker, etc.

I'm an ounce counter and don't even like the idea of a bino chest harness in the first place because of the extra weight/bulk of it, so am looking for very functional and lightweight. Babying the binos or rf is not my highest priority, but I want to make sure I'm well informed before making this decision.

Thanks guys!
Check out the Adak harness if you want something light weight and quiet. I haven’t personally used it but have heard it’s good for a minimalist approach

I run the AGC Hybrid, wind checker and release go in the side pockets, tags in the rear mesh, 10x42 in the main pouch, and kilo 1600 in the front pouch.

overall it’s pretty good, the front pouch is too tight for the range finder so I’ll be getting a dedicated pocket for it and making that a call pouch instead, the shoulder straps ride toward my neck occasionally worn under a loaded pack. Very well made and I’ll continue to use it. Can’t comment on overall weight compared to others but it’s comfortable to wear and pack multiple days.

I have an Alaska Guide Creations bino harness and like it a lot. I do not really know where is stacks up weight wise, but it fits my ELs, range finder, wind checker, release, knife, lighter, and lens pen. Everything is really easy to get to and you really forget its there. Plus I love the ability to rest my bow on it.

I'm also starting to revisit this topic as my old fhf has started to annoy me with the loud interior Fabrice and the plastic buckles on the range finder/gps leashes make noise when hitting the metal stay hook.

A question I have is will the forward opening chest packs interfere with the string on a bow when shot? Outdoor vision, marsupial, adak, stone glacier?

I guess that would depend on your stance. I’ve had AGC, Badlands, Marsupial, and bow Stone Glacier. No issues at all, except for Badlands. It doesn’t fold under, but rather sits out like a shelf.

I use the BL. You do have to mind it to save the magnet slap but I’ve managed it ok. Side pockets built in rain fly and phone slides into rear pouch. Maybe look into something later but have other gear priorities now

Is the Vortex GlassPak any good? I know it can be had new for $30

It's not a bad pack but definitely not a primo pack on the market. Thin straps and the pack lens cover can be a pain sometimes. But is can be used for sure if you are looking to save some cash. I have been using Alaska Guide Creations for 6 years now and haven't found anything I like more.

Did you have any interference from the magnets with your phone gps? I'm thinking of the newer enclosed marsupial but don't want to get lost in the dark. I hunt some ridges where a 100 feet off line makes for a long cold night in the woods or worse.

I will alternate between AGC Cub and RYO harnesses. Depends on my hunt trip and needs.
The RYO is way less bulky, less strappy feeling than my AGC. Have attachments for calls, rangefinder. No pouches, so rangefinder fits in vest or jacket pocket using separate retractable device.

The AGC has side, front pouches, which come in handy for quick access storage. Just a bit more bulky.
