Tikka 6.5 PRC Dope Chart

In short, I'm hoping to get some trajectory info from folks who shoot a Tikka 6.5 PRC with Hornady ELD-X. Factory, chopped barrels, suppressed, brake, doesn't matter...but please add any modifications to your response.

My situation:

My biggest issue is that I live in South Jersey and it's a federal project for me to shoot beyond 200. I'm able to shoot to 500 though. When I have the opportunity, I want to be prepared.

My gun is a Tikka T3X Lite 6.5 PRC, stainless barrel chopped to 21" and crowned. No can or brake. Averaging ~2700 out of the muzzle. 200 yd zero.

I put these stats in the Hornady app and it says 2.51" drop @ 300. Yet the box says 6.4" and that's at 2960 with a 24" barrel. Doesn't make sense.

Just hoping to have a collection of data to reference off of as I make my own chart on limited opportunity. As far as I'm concerned, I currently have nothing tangible.

What’s your altitude set to in the app?

This is my friend’s 24” Tikka 6.5 PRC when shot at my local range. We validated this out to 300.

It's at 0. But I just maxed out it to 10k and it only changed .25"

Then I maxed out all the conditions and it was around .15"

Maybe try a different app? I prefer Shooter.

Well that makes a lot more sense! I'm new to rifle shooting so this is all foreign to me although I did read up on MOA a while back.

The dots on my reticle are 2 MOA spaced, 0.65 MOA dots. So roughly speaking, and according to the app, the bottom of my first dot down should be about 2.5 MOA? I attached a photo of it.

You're getting the idea. MOA = minute of angle (1/60th of a degree), which is fairly close to 1" per 100 yards.

Word of warning here: You have a 2nd focal plane scope, so the reticle markings are only calibrated at max magnification.

Interesting thanks! Apparently I have more reading to do. And a lot more shooting. I have been shooting with it maxed out but want to see the difference. I originally got this scope with intent to hunt in heavy grizzly country. Figured the low magnification might come in handy.

Heck yeah, looks like a great scope. I think those are generally favorable around here, too. And more trigger time always makes for a good day.

I have a lot of time with my Vortex LH 2-10, which is kind of like a lesser version of what you have. The very first time I tried holding over with the reticle, I missed the target. I knew better and it just slipped my mind. Learn from my mistakes!

I still see value in SFP scopes, but I made a conscious effort to FFP for my next one. I prefer shooting on lower power in general, and it bugs the engineer-in-me to have the reticle always be out of scale except for one point (max mag). With FFP you just don't have to think about it - the scale is always correct. Don't let this stop you right now, just consider this (along with the other tradeoffs) going forward.

Check that you have your scope height entered correctly also.

You might play with the app and see how your zero distance affects the range for each of the moa dots.
