If you had COVID would you go walk around without a mask at a grocery store, go to church, go to a concert?

I'd hope not, because you would feel that would be irresponsible. The reason masks should be mandatory in surging states is because there are so many people with light/mild symptoms that could be attributed to colds or even seasonal allergies that a lot of people do not know they have it.

So people should be wearing them to protect those that are at risk. It's not about YOU it's about others. I don't understand your argument about limiting ma freedom when it's a small thing you can do that can save someone's life. (Which scientists and politicians are coming to an agreement on) So are you trying to say is that you just don't give a shit? That's a much better answer and would make sense.

If wearing a mask provides you and others 1% protection that's better then zero. All for the cost of a small inconvenience out shopping/eating/working and $5.

You are worried about improving protection by 1% which is a really small number. I am talking about a number that is 95% smaller than that.. Five tenths of a percent is the mortality rate of C19. People who are at risk should not be out and about. If they are compelled to do so because they do not have anyone around to help them out, then THEY should wear a mask to protect themselves or have their own early morning shopping hours where they are the only ones in the store. Pretty simple. Get a N95 mask for a couple bucks and no worries. It should be mandatory for THEM to wear a N95 mask. THEY would be protected whether I do or not.

It is beyond stupid to live in fear of something that we now know is just the flu on steroids. Take the CDC's infected number of 23 mil and divide that by the current deaths which are 128,647 and are sure to be inflated. The overall death rate for C-19 then is .0055. Fauci's flip flop on masks is not the reason that I generally do not wear a mask. It is just an example of the many flip flops that as you pointed was intentionally misleading. You are correct in that we have learned a lot since March. The one thing that puzzles me is that we now know that the mortality rate for C-19 is in the zip-code of the flu for most of our population. We really have known this for a while ever since antibody tests were given in large numbers. The CDC confirmed it last week with their announcement. Instead, the leading C19 news for the last week has been how red states are trying to kill you because of a spike in cases. Spikes in cases are not good news but they are not necessarily bad news either. As infected case go up and the relationship of deaths go down the mortality rate drops lower. Healthy and young people have almost nothing to fear. In fact the flu has killed more people ages 0-24 than Covid during the same time period. C19-137 Flu-149 (From the CDC) I am not worried about getting C-19 any more than I am concerned about getting the flu or a cold. That is the reason I generally do not wear a mask. I would not base any of my life decisions on anything that Fauci would have to say. In my completely non medical opinion, the people who should wear a mask are those who are 1. Elderly and or have pre-existing conditions to prevent themselves from getting sick. 2. Have anxiety over all of this. 3. Believe everything that the liberal media tells you and that Biden, AOC, and the BLM movement is the solution for all of this. If you are in the first two categories then I am cheering for you. If you are in the last category then I am cheering that you will get your head out of the sand by Nov.

I have no problems with you or anyone else thinking that I am an idiot because of my views. I disagree with you and feel like the facts point in a complete opposite direction. If you killed an elk this year in my neck of the woods I would be happy to help you pack it out. There is no reason that people cannot agree to disagree.

At this point, to me it is more to me about the economy than the disease for many of the reasons you indicated. I just do not think the sense of entitlement that some develop living in a free country should trump the harm that people are doing to the economy by being unwilling to take the minimal precautions that help limit the spread of the disease.

As a friend put it, the worst thing that can come from you wearing a mask is that you wore a mask.

So, mandatory mask order starts in a week, I think.....wally today had the large majority of people wearing masks....

Hopefully 'they' do not order the gyms to close again.....1/2 way thru 2020 and not sure if we will make it all the way or not without something very bad happening....

God Bless America!

The liberal Mecca is starting to get a little bit of attention

LA county has been a mess for weeks now, attesting to meeting the state guidelines required to move to new phases of reopening, all the while new cases were going through the roof.

While LA is bad Imperial county is even worse.

I’m not googling anything. What people are doing is of their own. Not because of mandates made by people in position, that disregards private property, individual prosperity, and freedom to live as they see fit. All the while dismissing big corporation, state and federal employees, and rioters from abiding by the same guidelines. Not to mention Releasing convicted criminals for the betterment of their health.

The longer everyone walks around going to restaurants, bars, birthdays without a mask or a care in the world the longer we will all suffer. Continued shutdowns are going to continue to hurt businesses and individuals. Not to mention God forbid another stimulus bill our grandkids will be paying taxes on.

The folks who aren't acting prudently by wearing masks and distancing when they should be are the ones behind the recent mandates and will have to own some of the economic damage they are creating.

When is President Trump going to wear a mask and tell all Americans to do the same? I know, I know, he won't. The conflicted messaging is very damaging to the country though.

If the majority of people would just wear their masks in public indoor spaces, things could go back to a relative normal.

Public Health = National Security

My Mask = Your Freedom

Lots of places in states such as CA, TX, AZ, and FL dialing things back due to too many ignoring the health protocols.

USA, Brazil, and Russia number 1, 2, and 3 for COVID. Interesting.

Oh bullshit. The whole theory behind the first shut down was to flatten the curve. Remember, Do your part and flatten the curve. That ******* thing can’t get much flatter.
The virus isn’t going anywhere. We can’t wear masks until it goes away. As far as a vaccine. I’m not gonna be the first one to stand in a line to get a vaccine that’s been pushed through. No thank you I’ll take me chances. What the hell happened to herd immunity? Anyone?
The only people responsible for the mandates and whatever the ruling class decides is best for us peasants is Government officials pushing it through.

Local news stories from Oregon
“Hospitals could be overwhelmed by new Covid cases and hospitalizations in weeks.”
Quote from our Governor.

Below is a graph of percentage of emergency room visits due to Covid 19 symptoms off Oregon Health Authority website.8A545A4D-DFCC-4B53-B97B-E3C0FB324968.jpeg

In my home state the data from our own state government seems to counter every major news story and press release from government leaders. Something very strange is going on here. How could major local news organizations not do 3 minutes of research to include the data point of increasing the number of daily tests from 100 on March 9th to 5245 tests on June 15th. 5 percent of people positive on March 9th, 3.6 percent positive June 15th. Also a sharp decline to nearly 0 percent of emergency room patients being there for covid 19

As of today there are 105 people hospitalized right now in all the hospitals in the state, again data from Oregon Health Authority website.

Oregon has approximately 4.5 million people for reference. As of today we have had 206 deaths. As of May 20th 60 percent of those occurred in Oregon nursing homes(according to the Oregonian Newspaper. I can’t find newer nursing home death day.

Every day I see another business closed.
Just looking at data provided by the state, I can’t see the justification for the economic destruction that has been forced upon this state.

Every State/City is different. These are just observations from where I live using local news organizations and the state itself for data.

That's the problem. The curve ain't flat, and people didn't do their part. So you'd choose more shutdowns, overrun hospitals, ensuing economic damage over wearing a mask for HOWEVER LONG IT TAKES until the world figures a way out of this? And one wonders why we are where we are.

Mask will not make this go away. What will is it moving through the population as fast as possible. The absolute worst thing we can do is drag this out. If you are at risk or showing symptoms wear a mask and stay home if not get off your ass and get to work. If the US economy crashes we will all be in a world of shit.

I choose no shut downs. The first one didn’t work and there’s already been enough damage done to the economy. Show me an overrun hospital. I’ll wait. It’s been well documented that hospitals Icu’s normally run in a higher occupancy rate. That’s how they make money. Those rooms are expensive. It’ll take years to see the true economic impact of the first shut down. But I’m going to go out in a limb and say that once we see how big it was it might open a few hours on how worthwhile it was.
Given the level of incompetence shown by The Who,CDC, Dr. Fauci, and pretty much everyone involved at the federal and state levels I would say it’s gonna take a while for this to get figured out.
It’ll probably run a natural course long before we ever get it figured out.
So if you wanna wear a mask, a pair of panties, or a bucket over your head I don’t care go for it.

Not sure what curve you are looking at, while the curve was flat it is no longer (you may need to scroll down a bit to locate the graph).

The funny thing is yeah, we can in fact all wear masks until it goes away. And it could potentially expedite that if done consistently.

Other than those who think being asked wear a mask is an unconstitutional infringement to their civil liberties rather than being analogous to having to wear pants in public.

The notion of herd immunity seems to be in question as the antibodies seem to dissipate over time. There is an immunologist on another site I frequent who think the vaccine will potentially be an annual one like the flu and not one you take once or twice for lifelong immunity.

Drama sells. That’s all this shit is about!!

Remember when we was all going to die? Remember when all the hospitals were over run? Remember when New York said they needed thousands of ventilators, and they were totally swamped in medical services? Remember when the navy hospital ship Was sent there? Remember how many people used it from the overflowing hospitals? Remember the nursing homes being forced to take sick elderly people? Remember the New York gov shutting down everything but his own wife getting caught in an illegal open bar room? Does anyone REMEMBER ALL THE BULL WE WERE FED??

Turn off the news and go about life. I promise you’ll be better off and think much clearer. Believe nothing you hear and half of what you see!!!

As of now, the worst part of this virus has been the FORCED UNEMPLOYMENT AND DEBT WE RAN UP!!

Today I was in the post office, following a young blonde woman, maskless. She made her way to the front of the socially distanced line, and the postal worker backs up, pulls her mask down, and coughs into her arms several times. The blonde pulled her mask out of her pocket and put that thing on quicker than anything I've ever seen. She muttered something like 'oh, dang, yeah I forgot, I should uh, probably put this thing on'
