292785 total applications, not applicants. You are counting individuals up to 200 times with that number. My point is that influencers are likely to put up hundreds of dollars at a shot at drawing anything. Most people spend $50 and apply for the Henry's and Paunsaugunt and a few others. Which is why the Henry's and Pauns have 10k applicants and there isn't much that is even close. I would say it is safe to assume that there are maybe 20k applicants between all the tags.

Do you put in for the tag in question? I didn't. In 2020 only 4610 people did. I would bet most "influencers" did because if they draw it is more content they can put out on a great unit.

People can spend time being angry that they didn't draw but if you think about it, why would SFW want to give out a tag to Kristy Titus or John Stallone. This is the first time I have even heard of John Stallone. I may not know of everyone in the hunting industry but I don't exactly have my head in the sand.

Big sponsors, maybe there is some shady stuff there. Who knows. But being mad because you recognize a name is just silly and a waste of time. (I am not saying Corbland is angry, but the OP clearly is a little annoyed that he recognized a name on that list that isn't his)

Since you like running numbers what are the odds of Heather Farrar drawing a tag almost yearly. Sorry but nobody is that lucky. Not angry but there is a reason the draw started being witnessed and open to the public, well except for this year when it was done privately again.

Seems to be be many different opinions. I also have one but choosing not to share it. I personally know 2 individuals whom drew tags this year (Deer and a sheep tag) neither of these are rich or famous just lucky....

To be honest, I would love to run those odds. Like I said, big sponsors of SFW getting kickbacks, that is a conspiracy that possibility makes sense. Small time YouTube channels, not so much. I just don't see what SFW would get from it and it makes sense that between all these influencers that a few will get lucky every year.

I don't know of a way to see past winners, I think they take them down. Do you have screen shots of the years and tags Farrar or family members have won.

Also, legitimate question, who is Heather Farrar and why would SFW give her tags? I assume she or her family is a big donor but I would rather not make assumptions.

I don't think its actually fixed, highly coincidental though. Plenty of ordinary guys drew tags. Heck, some dude from Harper, TX drew a Wasatch elk tag. Nobody is from Harper, TX.

Well maybe I'm back on being a negative nancy. The Boerne, TX guy that drew the Henry's bison tag is a brand ambassador for First Lite.

As long as I think my money goes towards maybe something good for wildlife, I'll put in for raffles when I can swing them. Don't have to worry about the Expo tags anymore. I don't have time to go to it when they get back to in person stuff anyway.

Your right, I did those numbers quickly but regardless, the probability of it happening is still low but not impossible. The odds of drawing the tag in question, according to last year is .08%. I would imagine it will be even lower this year given that you didnt have to validate applications in person.

I am not angry, honestly don't really care. I only put in for the sheep tags as that its my best shot of drawing.

I don't but I believe its posted on MonsterMuleys with screenshots of all their tags. Heather and her late husband are huge donors to SFW and hunt with Mossback a lot. I don't apply out of principle because I think the whole thing is shady not just the draw.

You're full of it if you think because they apply for everything that somehow they have better odds of drawing. Typical SFW rhetoric is what that sounds like. Every year there's two or three celebrities that draw tags. It's nothing more than free advertising for those tags. Joe Normal doesn't have a chance for those tags. The same people draw tags every year. That's a statistical impossibility. I mean, you see the same names every year. Supposedly you get one chance at each tag... and you're telling us they're drawing tags with a sub 1% chance EVERY year?

Well, the fact that only 30% of those proceeds go to Utah and the rest to SFW should give you pause. The Expo turned down RMEF taking over, when they promised that 100% of funds would go to the state's wildlife. The rules were changed to favor SFW's application AFTER the RMEF application was in, and they weren't allowed to change it. The Expo is probably the shadiest of all Expos out there. SFW owns the wildlife board and enough in the legislature that they get what they want.

Well @sneaky guess Utah only got about $17 out of me for that. Apps are almost due, so the DWR will be getting $207 directly out of me in the next couple of days and likely a General Deer tag fee, then a few more apps' worth when the antlerless draw is open. Altogether, Utah should be getting about $900 from this nonresident in 2021.
