Well the guns are shooters!! Only got 15 down each barrel. It was 110 degrees and about a 20 mph wind. Shots were 1 inch groups toward the end.

we ran out time.

Both rifles were very smooth shooting rifles . 257 is very light recoil, and surprisingly the 28 was just a touch more than the 257.

I can’t wait for it to cool down and really do some work!

Yes they are A5 stocks. Sorry I had ordered game warden stocks for my Remington.

Apologize if I missed it, what trigger did you go with? Upgraded stock, or aftermarket.

Jeremy
List:
Weatherby vanguard actions
(257, and 240 turned into 28 nosler)
Timney triggers set at 2-1/2 pounds
McMillan A5 stocks (these were machined to fit my actions and barrel)
OMR prefit barrels 24 inch 1-8 twist 257 and 26 inch 1-8 twist 28 nosler barrel
Talley rings
Vortex H-ST 4-16 scopes
Had a local gunsmith machine the 240 weatherby bolt face to accept the 28 nosler and it needed a new ejector pin. He installed my barrels to the action.

Last night was preparing for the range and noticed bolts were loose on the scope ring. Well they were not loose, they were broken!

so the 257 is not going to the range this morning.
I will be trying a new shooting platform.

Sorry... it’s been a while since I checked in. settled on this this load. It would have been a tighter group, but I had 1 flyer. I have 90 down the tube. Going to run about 10 more to confirm my long range data. This is for the 28 nosler.

after my sheep hunt I will finish the 257 . I was feeling pressure to get the 28 ready. The 257 does not get to come out and play until February for my javelin hunt.

Impressive velocity for 180-grain mono...kind of makes one want to give them a second look, I'm doing good to get those velocities in a .300 WM with 180-grain lead bullet. SD is lacking a bit though.

Tagged because I have a Weatherby backcountry (vanguard).
