Buddy and I went halves on a cement mixer, he has it and I ran out. It was time consuming, but I got a few gallons made in about an hour IMG_3412.jpeg

For people like me that didn’t know what the heck “wax dirt” was:

Properties and Uses

Wax dirt has several beneficial properties:
Freeze-proof: Wax dirt sheds water and prevents traps from freezing in cold conditions.
Water-shedding: Wax dirt helps keep traps dry, even in rainy or snowy weather.
Odorless (except for the natural dirt smell): Wax dirt is suitable for use in sets where a strong scent might be a concern.
Wax dirt is commonly used in trapping, particularly for coyote and other small game trapping. It can be used in place of traditional dirt or soil, providing a more reliable and effective option in harsh weather conditions.

I would think those temps might scorch it. How doers it smell?

Spouse uses his 2 burner stove and a big metal pan.
We go through about 10 gallons a season, two 5 gallon buckets full.

I didn't put wax in oven, just used it heat sand. It came out fine, but was very low yield. Got enough to get by until my buddy returns the cement mixer.

That was my thought too.
I made 25 gallons this summer with a black mixing tub and a glass pane in the sun for a few hours, worked great.

How do you like the cement mixer method? I usually do mine on a hot day in the sun. I’ve also been using the powdered anti-freeze and it seems to be working pretty good.

I can't say yet! I'll have it back this week, which will be the first run with it. Over the summer I did well with the solar method, but needed a window over black tubs.
