Waterproof Gear totes

As long as we're on the subject Looking for a good tote to ship gear on airline for moose hunt. Was told the hard plastic ones will most likely show up damaged? Thanks

They hold water, but does the gear inside stay dry?

I have this same type of tote for a lot of stuff around my property. Every single one I have left outside in a rain storm has gotten wet inside to varying degrees. Not quite sure how or why, but I wouldn't trust them with anything that you need to keep dry.

There may be a cheep solution to getting them waterproof but I haven't done anything yet.

I started using (mostly) the smaller size of these (no wheels, about 30inches long?) to store stuff in my shed. My local Academy and Cabelas usually has them for 14.99 on sale, I think. My local Dunhams often has them for $40! but I price match...

I have a few of these in my shed. The big issue for me is they don't shed water. That lid will probably hold a half-gallon if it sits in the rain. You gotta be careful to dump any water out first. For some reason, there are holes in the lid around the perimeter. You can see them in this photo. The holes are flush to the top of the side of the tote. It seems to me that water can works its way through there, escpecially if you have that thing packed tight. Then it bulges as you move from the corners.

Noooooooo, these won't keep out rain or dust or mice for that matter. Ask me how I know.

They also have places to strap them down that won’t let the strap slide off. Not sure how water proof they are as I typically end up throwing a tarp over the truck bed when heading out west but they should keep a moderate rain out. They are a heavier plastic than the cheep Walmart ones that the lids don’t stay on.
