Redington Beach FL fishing info needed!

Leaving for Redington beach on the 18th and I'm thinking I better surprise the wife by packing some fishing gear! Haha

If anyone is willing to offer up any tips on places to try some shore fishing, I would really appreciate it! Info on gear to bring would be great as well. I have done some florida shore fishing(Keys for tarpon) but its been a few years.

I would love to book a spearfishing charter but I think it might be a bit late at this point and I also dont want to be on the water for a full day..Need to make plenty of time for fun activities with the wife and son. Our Airbnb is directly across from the beach so Im thinking it could be convenient for some quick fishing sessions when our boy is down for his mid-day nap.

Any other suggestions for fun family activities, along with good places to eat would be appreciated as well! Our son is 2, so we wont be able to do anything to adventurous .

I haven't fished that exact spot. This time of year there should be pompano along the beach. Get some shrimp or dig sand fleas. Throw out and wait. They aren't big but tasty. They will hit hair jigs as well but bait is better. All sorts of other things you can catch randomly. Trout and redfish are probably pretty good in the intercostal, less likely to catch them off the beach.
