Greetings, Did any of you receive the survey from WSU asking about the Elk hoof rot situation in Washington. My son and I both received the survey. Interesting survey asking about how much we trust government officials in telling us the truth about the situation.

I received it by email also.
Didn’t like the question. They didn’t seem to have much to do with elk management. I started to take it but couldn’t finish it. Information from people in the field is important, just not how they were asking.

Didn't.... but who the F cares about WA elk?! I've lived in WA for almost 4 years, never hunted here, and will probably only hunt here once in my life when I draw a Wenaha tag.

Well elkocd I hope you get your wenaha tag after I get mine. Because that also will be my last elk hunt in Washington. I have been hunting elk in Washington for 51 years and the last few years have been eye opening about how badly the game dept has screwed up our elk herds.

I'll have 18 points going into this years draws....I've never drawn an elk tag sans a cull tag this year that was possibly the worst orchestrated mess since the debacle on the coast.

I'm not sure exactly what the game department is supposed to do. Massive native harvest nearly year round, influx of predators and degrading habitat all in one of the most populated states in the west. I killed an elk this year on a general east side tag and am planning on doing it again next year.

Who cares about WA elk? Washington residents who have lived here their entire life and watched firsthand what it has become.

Couple Washington bulls I was lucky enough to kill. Just go's to show what Washington could have if they had better management.

Yeah, that's the point. It's a joke. Sorry you had to see it happen. As someone who hunts all over the west, usually 2-3 states a year for elk. I have no interest in hunting spikes on the east side just because I want to put in for an east side archery tag. Like I said... I'll likely hunt WA once in my life, if that, if I can draw an east side tag.

Even tho OR sucks compared to other states and is over priced, I know I can pay the $700 and shoot a 6 point bull every year in that state. WA just has nothing to offer compared to what you can hunt elsewhere.

Gotcha, I’m not great at recognizing sarcasm. Lol. It sure is a shame, they need to offer more tags on the Eastside.

Nice bulls. I have 21 points and can't get drawn. Yet I am consistently running into guys that are on their third or even their fourth branched antler tag. I think the draw system is broken.
That’s the problem. Way too many guys with upper teens and 20+ points and then they cut tags. If anyone has spent any amount of time hunting spikes on the eastside they would see that offering more tags in these “premium” units would definitely help get some of these Max point holders off the couch and in the game. The problem is there’s too many guys holding out for “only the blues” and continuing to not draw because everyone is thinking that.

Only problem with the more tags idea. is there is not the population of quality bulls in the blues that there was just five years ago. I use to see five or six bulls that I would consider shooters in the course of a season. Now I may see one that is one on the low end of that scale in the entire season and spikes are more rare than that.
