All of the above. There is a lot of history to be seen, and some tears to be shed. I have three friends whose names are on the Viet Nam memorial wall. If you are there Monday, DJT. :)

Call your Congressman's office, and ask to get a tour of the capitol building. It's free, and will be conducted by their staffer most of the time. It's an excellent experience, and a very good way to build a contact in your Congressman's office.

We were there right after the new year. We visited the Air and Space Museum. I was pretty impressed. They do have a new exhibit ready to open up. Not sure when that will be, looked very close from what I could see.

For me if the weather is nice it doesn’t get much better than walking the mall at night. I also really get a kick out of places like wok and roll. It is just an Asian food / karaoke bar in china town that also happens to be where John Wilkes Booth planned the assassination of president Lincoln.

Everything mentioned.
Watch the changing of the guard as well at Arlington

The “locals” can be pushy and agressive
Rode the train into town and some black dude in a winter coat, (it was July) wanted to kill all the white people on board.
Had another offer his services as a tour guide for $100.00.
They know out of town people

Seems like something is going on in DC Monday. I can't remember for sure, but I may have read something or heard it on the radio. I should pay better attention.

Lincoln Memorial. National mall. Museums of your liking.

Marine Corps Memorial.

Vietnam War Memorial.

Korean War Memorial.

Nobody mentioned White House (no brainer).

National Harbor. Few shops. Restaurants and bars. Gaylord hotel and food/bars there. Ferris Wheel.

8th and I (home of oldest post in Marine Corps).

Eat: Old Ebbit Grill (anytime). Georgetown cupcake, Baked and Wired (bakery).

Ben’s Chili Bowl (all kinds of hot dogs).

Take uber or do the e-scooters/ e-bikes and zip around the city in no time.
