This is great to hear. I appreciate the rockslide approach. I can hardly wade through the political sh*# on archerytalk.com to get to anything archery related. Very little of it is constructive or informative, mostly it is known players trading insults and “proof” that their side is correct. I have yet to see any converts...

I’m totally fine with moderating politically oriented posts revolving around 2A issues and clamping down hard on other political posts.

From what I can see here on Rokslide, it isn’t just hunting oriented. There is a lot of great info on shooting in general, backpacking, etc.

The 2A covers more than just guns.

Yes, other forums have gone out of control on personal attacks. However, there are forums that do a great job of keeping it civil and focused.

I would lean towards that civil and focused approach.

No one forces you read a particular thread. I honestly haven’t even looked at the General forum until recent events as I was curious about what this community was saying about the recent arfcom ban.

We are truly in a period where Gun owners as a community are coming under attack. I don’t see the harm in keeping informed here...civilly.

I was stationed in Britain when Dunblane went down...in a heart beat the British government went after long guns (they already had a licensing and registration scheme in place). They knew exactly where all the legally owned guns were and went after them.

Brits, Aussie and Kiwi Gun owners caution us to be vigilant.

We really must band together, keep informed and lobby correctly to maintain what rights/protections we currently have.

Ignore current events at your peril.

This right here is the embodiment of what happens with political threads. We have a thread here, talking about political threads. The vast majority in here at not in support or limited support of the allowance of them on the forum. You come in here and post three sentences. Multiple people respond back with their stance on these. You respond with what you did, essentially calling all those that disagree with you illogical. This is on thread that has nothing to do with politics. Take this and add in the strongly held positions of religion and/or politics. What do they become? Shit shows.

There are many valid reasons for not allowing political threads, all of which have been stated in this thread. The fun part about it is, your logic can be used both ways. Dont like that political threads arent allowed...move on.

plenty of good discussion on here with a slant towards no political threads.

@Ryan Avery and I and the staff will discuss this further. In the meantime, if it's a political thread, it better have to do with 2A, conservation, and hunting.

There's always FB if you want to watch people argue a lot. But as @JoshOR says, you won't see many converts.

I'm locking this thread, not because it went south, but seems posts are starting to repeat.

Thanks Roksliders
