Haha. Wow. Why was it ever illegal to hunt on Sundays? That's crazy.

Blue laws. No hunting because it was a day of rest. VA also used to not sell alcohol on Sundays as well, but that changed a while ago.

Hold over from the pilgrim days. I actually liked it when I lived in VA. heck the season was 5 months long so no big deal to me. And was glad to know others weren't hunting when I was at church Sunday.

Are there even week long backpack hunts even possible in VA 😄😄 on public land?

WTF? How can they make illegal... an activity such as providing food for yourself?

Hmmph...nevermind... I just heard those words coming out of my own mind right now, and thought about that in terms of a politician's mindset, so nevermind.

I remember the first time I ever experienced the phenomenon known as "a dry county".

Was in Ohio regarding a matter concerning my grandfather, and it was that first superbowl where the patriots won. And since these folk, who were kin, were nice enough to have me over, you know, with food and all, I was like "Hey, if somebody drives me all buy whatever drinks you guys would like to enjoy with the game!"

And there all telling me "Sorry, ya can't. It's Sunday, this is a "dry county". And I'm all like "What does that mean?" I couldn't believe my ears when they told me!

Very happy to see this pass. Always good to see progress for hunters in any state.

Good news. But, since I could hunt from Sept through Feb or March I never felt too cheated on opportunity.

I'm a weekend warrior since my weeks are normally busy. So having 2 days to hunt doubles my hunting time!
Its a good thing no doubt. Especially during early Nov when every day counts. Could already hunt private on Sunday.

Yes! Ramseys Draft Wilderness Area in Augusta Co. Back in my college days, I‘d go in there to bow hunt. Its about 6000 acres of WILD! There were a few apple trees on top of Hardscrabble Knob that deer aways fed on in October. Awesome hunting.

Kinda sucks, I mean I get to make my own schedule, hunt when I want.

Probably be bombarded by NR's now....

Don't know anyone in western states that celebrate hunter opportunities.

We could hunt private ground the past few years on Sundays, as long as we observed the minimum distance from place of worship. This will open all public ground. I'm curious if it restructures seasons.

I am stoked about this, had written a lot of letters. This is the main reason I havent gotten to do 'backcountry' style hunt- I dont have enough time to burn a day. It almost doubles my opportunities as a mostly weekend warrior.

PA allowed hunting on a handful of select Sundays this year. They're trying, finally.

From what I saw/heard, the farmers and landowners are the ones worried about being "harassed" (my word) by all the Sunday hunting activity.
