Not good news for those of us who hunt and recreate in SW Virginia:
Mount Rogers NRA and Clinch Ranger District in GW & Jefferson NF closed until Oct 1, 2025 unless the closure order is terminated earlier.

Hopefully they will announce further openings as roads are cleared. Closing the entire areas for a whole year seemed unreasonable.

I think in western Va, access to large private swaths are easier. East of the state is eaten up with hunt clubs and dogs. It’s hard to find decent land privately to hunt bc all the hunt clubs pay big money to lease them. The public land on the eastern side of the state is much busier.
