Agreed. I was just wondering where he stood on the subject. He is indeed a tremendous asset for conservation.

I too admire the Meat Eater. Steven Rinella is the real deal. My favorite unapologetic and honest quote of his "I hunt for the challenge, for the adventure, and to be close with God."

Man, this will open a can of worms but so be it..

1st: Steve is the man. Love his show and its the only one I will DVR and watch. This video is a great example of why his show does well and he continues to bring people over to "our" side.

2nd: To say one is a "Christian" but you don't interpret the Bible literally are contrary thoughts. It bothers me when someone says "I'm a Christian" but has no idea what it means (not insinuating you do not Matt, I'm talking generalities here). If we are purely talking the age of the earth and evolution then I'm with ya but when people start pulling out verses just to fit their lifestyle then that's the wrong path to be on. I would argue that "many/most" denominations are moving further away from Christianity as it was written by Paul so I would not use them as my yardstick.

Some people believe the earth was formed in 7 days, each comprised of 24 hours, with those hours comprised of 60 minutes, with each of those minutes comprised of 60 seconds - because the Bible says so. With that interpretation, evolution is tantamount to heresy because it conflicts with a literal interpretation of the Bible. It sounds like we are on the same page, in that one can be a Christian and not take a literal interpretation of the Bible.

If like to wade in a bit on the idea that "literal interpretation" of the scriptures is often misunderstood. There are many types of literature in the scriptures. Some are poetic, some satirical(Jesus spoke this way even), some profoundly solid with no room for "interpretation." Many beleive that the first part of Genesis is written in a poetic form where the point is "God Created" powerfully and mightily and they days are less important. I'm not entirely sold on that but I do fee that you can hold this belief and still literally interpret the scripture. Where people most often get into trouble and stray from the truth is when they start reading the parts which are not poetic and "interpreting" them to assuage themselves. As Paul says in Galatians even just adding to the Gospel makes it not the gospel. Please hear me when Inam saying that having a literal interpretation does not mean reading the scripture with no understanding of hermeneutics or the style of writing. Literal interpretation is often confused for a non scholarly approach to scriptures Good literal interpretation takes much more effort and should be applauded. I do think that you can be a theistic evolutionist and a real believer. All of us have flaws in our understanding of God and his word. Sorry end rant, just wanted to point out that Literal does not mean "simple".

I am a big fan of him. Although when listening to a podcast where his stance on politics and Texas high fence ranch hunting were a little left field for me.. I am not a high fence fan but who am I to say what someone can do with there livestock. If he is trying to be a speaker for hunters I think you should support all types of hunting and 2nd amendment rights.
