If you're out hiking with a cougar tag in your pocket, you aren't really cougar hunting. Your trying to cover yourself in case you get stopped. You ain't gonna walk a cougar down, sorry.

That’s my problem. They could interpret someone lion hunting as shed hunting based on their definition of “gathering”. Sorry I didn’t know asking for clarification on that makes me a poacher apparently.

It says marking locations of antlers is illegal, not general locations. They are using locating as an active verb in the sense of searching for or mapping.

You're either out there hunting up antlers or you aren't. I don't live in UT, but I find the directions on my Navage more complicated than the language in this emergency order, and I haven't drown myself yet. I'm sure you will make it through this.

You don’t know me. I don’t want to shed hunt during the closure. I didn’t in 2017 and I won’t this time. I’m simply pointing out that if the definition of “gathering”=“locating” then that could be a slippery slope. Sorry I don’t trust the government and everything they say. A person shouldn’t have to worry about “locating” a dead animal and getting a fine

Most people can figure out that locating, or marking means you will be noting said location in some semi permanent form; ie GPS, so you can return in the future. It's not difficult to see the intent of the wording. If you are out hunting cougar and walk up to and past a shed, you have little to worry about if you don't have a gps pin marking it's location.

If you were using ONX tracking you could simply walk in a circle around the shed without dropping a pin. Would be easy to later look at your track and tell where the sheds/dead heads were located.

At that point mark them however you want, pick them up even as you've already broken the emergency closure.

It’s really actually very very simple, If that is really your concern which I highly
Doubt it is, call your local DFW officer. And explain that you would you plan on going on a MTN lion hunt and what he recommends you do to prevent the illusion that you’re actually out shed hunting. This also would show that you reached out before hand for clarification in the event your ticketed by another officer….

But like I said you sound like your not looking for an answer your just complaining about shed hunting closure…

I've never been shed hunting and have no intention of ever going shed hunting. I'm just pointing out that this new law is pretty ambiguous at best.
