Using dirt bikes for hunting the mountains.

I will say. That after putting in a ton of miles with a chainsaw bolted to the front of the bike. I'd not be afraid of having a shelf there and getting 10-15lb off of my back. It takes a few miles to get used to the weight being up there, but its really not bad. Couple clicks on the forks helps a bit as well

You guys that are hauling out alot. Are you swapping out springs an such, or just running things as they came?

I agree with Wrench on the Yamaha XT225 being a good trail bike….low seat height, 6 speed transmission, easy 180 km with range for me with half the ride on “slow” asphalt and half on logging roads and in timber cuts with plenty of gas left. And my 2007 cost me $2000 CAD a year ago. Needed a new battery and the carb cleaned up…3900 km on it.

I mainly use it for drive out from the house scouting and pleasure riding. It gets around 80 mpg. Easy to load on the hitch carrier on the truck as well if going further out.
