Looking at moving on from my current bow setup, 2010 or 11 PSE Bowmadness, maxed out at 30" DL. In talking with my bow shop guy while I was having some shooting struggles, we noticed my shoulders have widened since I first bought the bow and I would likely be better off with a 30.5 or more likely a 31" DL. I hate buying new bows even more than buying new vehicles, but my goodness it is hard to research what previous models are available in over 30" draws. Seems almost everyone stops at 30" except for a few models and sometimes an extra cam like hoyt. However, I am also curious to hear from some longer DL shooters if they have any models that have been easier/more comfortable to shoot. Reason being with the long draw and 70lbs being no struggle, I have more KE or momentum problems so will be deciding solely on shootability. From everyone I have already talked to, this seems to mean an ATA of over 34" as well. Any suggestions? Thanks for any ideas

I’m not a long draw shooter but there’s plenty of good options for a 31” draw.
Hoyt Nitrum 34
Hoyt Defiant 34
Mathews Halon X
Mathews Halon 32
PSE Evolve 35
PSE Beast
PSE Freak
Xpedition Denali
Xpedition Perfection
Xpedition Xcentric 7

As you can see there’s quite a few choices. All of these are quality bows and will shoot great and tune well. At least this will give you some bows to look at.

Check out the Hoyt Double XL. Should be able to find one used in the Archerytalk classifieds. I'd check the hunting and target bow classifieds. Lots of times guys buy the flat black color for a target bow.

Yep. One of my favorite bows of all time is my 2006 Bowtech Old Glory. I'd have no problem buying a used one of those if I didn't already have one. Mine is set up at 32 1/2" draw.

But there are plenty of newer options as well. Worse yet is trying to find used 32 1/2" draw LH bows.

PSE Freak or Beast are great long draw bows.

I'll keep an eye out for those three. I've found there's a big difference between bows that can make 31", and bows that are shootable for guys needing 31". Anything under 34" has just seemed super tough for me to keep steady, and the string angle makes it hard to set my peep up like everyone says it is supposed to be setup.

The shortest bow I've owned is the Old Glory at 36.75" ATA.

Another thing I've seen a lot of is manufacturers designing a bow and then almost seemingly throw a LD option in after the fact. So the shorter draw option shoots really well, but when put out to their long draw max........they're a nightmare. The Freak was designed as a long draw bow from the ground up, then the Beast replaced it. My Freak is 38" ATA.

The Hoyt Double XL should be a shooter, but was new last year so you'll pay more for a used one.

Just saw a 2006 Old Glory in target red on Ebay at $100 right now. If it was LH I would buy it and have it dipped, and then have Barnsdale make me new limbs.
