If you hunt a lot none of the cotton pants hold up. I used to wear Carhartt, tried a few other cotton brands. The cuff on the bottom will be ragged after a few weeks and pretty well gone halfway thru a season.

Agreed. I blew up a pair of Carhartt pants in one season. Plus, they suck in the rain or snow.

I'd agree with this, except for the wranglers work pants I've tried. Haven't got a fray or a hole yet and they just flat out impress me every time. I should really buy more just to have before they quit making them. I do run gaiters on the Bottom for wet days and that helps. Nylon pants that are double front would be just as good I'd bet, but I can't find a pair that's double front and not super expensive

That's fair, and I believe cathart quality is just not good anymore

No idea and never will as it's another hunting brand that only goes up to a 34" inseam!

The pyke pants are now offered in 34” (32 waist and up) with a hem you can let out to get another 1-2”. I’m in a similar boat in that I need a 30 waist and at least 34” inseam, which nobody offers. Letting the hem out on the 32” pyke is close to perfect for me though.

I'm typically wearing a pair of Kuhl Ryder or Ryder Lite pants with Filson Chaps. The Kuhls are pretty rugged and the chaps take care of any heavy brush or thorns I may be going through.

I'd say the weak link on the Kuiu brush pants are the leg gaitor connection to your boot lace. I wore a hole into mine in a couple of months. A friend of mine has the same issue on his. Neither pant is rendered useless, but i was hopeful to get a few seasons out of them.

That doesn't surprise me on the Kuiu's.

I've about tried it all in the upland pants thing. I don't like any of the Upland pants as they are not waterproof, game breaker for me. I hate being wet. Upland pants are useless to me for this reason. They also tend to be heavy, they are really heavy when wet and take forever to dry. I use two different systems.

Kuhl Silencr pants. Gaiters for grasslands and warmer hunts. Filson Double Tin for later season and heavy cover. The Filson's are hot, and my thermostat runs high. That said for protection from heavy cover and shedding water,nothing is better. Sweathing a little is a fair trade for me. Another reason I like the Silencr, very light weight, not as hot in warmer temps with the chaps. In the heart of winter if there is a lot of snow I wear the gaiters under the Filson's. Great set up.

I had a pair of Kuiu gaiters for years that I used in the mountains. I replaced them with a like new pair this summer. Bought off here in classifieds. They had never been outside. They are trashed and need to be replaced at the end of the season. The fronts of them look like the picture above. Both strap holders on the sides have torn off. Great in the mountians, do not hold up to bird hunting..

Not sure what I will replace them with. Either Stone Glacier, (first genteration on these were garbage) has me a little gun shy. I don't like paying $120 for something to be a beta tester. Like the looks of the First Lite, they appear tough and well made. Crispi also look tough but not convinced they will stay down.

I wore the fjallraven Singi gaiters all season upland hunting this year, and they held up great. You can wax them as much as you want for water repellency too.

Those have been in grouse woods of Wisconsin and then Iowa crp. I estimate around 35 days afield. Maybe 3 washings in that time.

I really like the pants, I have wet them out as mentioned above. But they dry pretty quickly. Most times even when wet, I still am comfortable enough to drive a hour in them after a hunt, for example.
