I am about to ruffle some feathers but just because its American made doesn't make it a better product.

What I have learned in life is every one has an opinion, take it with a grain of salt and make your own decision.

Too many hunters… that may be true in some units and some states at certain times but it never ceases to amaze me how many people get so worked up about the number of people who are going to be out there and it turns out you’ve got the woods to yourself.

In general I just find it to be an abused excuse that people use to stay in their comfort zone.

One more.. “wind is everything”…. Yes it’s very very important but I can’t believe the amount of paranoia I’ve seen displayed about it. It’s like until you’ve got a plan together or a target game animal don’t worry about it! It’s like sheesh might as well crawl into the fetal position and not move if you are THAT worried about your scent.

I grew up eating wild game and is what I am used to. So, that's what I eat most of the time. When beef is served, it is good, but can be very fatty. I actually prefer wild game!

If elk steaks tasted anything close to a beef ribeye. I'd buy wyoming out of cow elk tags.

I thought of a couple others:

1. There’s plenty of great gun builders. There are very few great gunsmiths.

2. Influencers aren’t “ruining” hunting. Hunters inability or unwillingness to mentor, bring in new blood and police our own is what’s ruining hunting.

Too much money is spent on precision rifle builds. It’s become common to believe you need a sub-MOA rifle. Most hunters can’t shoot up to that level of accuracy in the field. In fact, when tired, cold, out of breath, and shooting from a field position, most hunters can’t consistently hold 2 MOA.

True, [we] can't. But if the rifle is a tack driver, at least that variable is controlled.

Coyotes put a big hurt on whitetail populations thus you should kill each and every 'yote you see.

I don't buy it, at least where I live in SW Wisconsin. Almost every animal has predators, which is good for that animal - it weeds out the sick and weak. We have lots of whitetails in my area and IMO the coyotes don't put much of a dent in the overall population. In fact, I believe we have more whitetails than we need, so good for the coyotes to help thin the herd.

Coyotes get blamed for bad management for both wildlife and for cattle. Had a rancher tell me yesterday that he lost a newborn calf to "a coyote". I kept my mouth shut but thought I bet he won't cull that sorry 1200 lb cow that can't fend off a 30 lb yote. That calf was dead long before the coyotes found it and that cow should have still stomped a mud hole in it.

My Unpopular opinion #2: by the end of season, no matter how it goes, I’m grateful to be done hunting. That feeling lasts about 30-45 days, then I’m excited again and looking forward to next season.

My Unpopular opinion #3: bait fishing sucks. It’s an excuse for lazy people to go out and drink beer somewhere other than sitting in their lazy boy.

True in both accounts. Jan 1 i was relieved to be done bird hunting. Here we are in February and I'm psyched for dog training season and testing to start up the end of March!

Bait fishing is taking the easy button. Sometimes it's nice but most of the time I want the challenge of throwing something I'm not sure will work. My favorite lure is one I thought was a "catch the fisherman " lure and it's definitely a fish slayer. I love finding random things that catch fish. The best pike lure for top water is the fishing plug that comes with a little kids zebco type rod and reel. Like the barbie and Spiderman ones. When I goof off with one of those, I get strikes all the time.

It's funny, with hunter #'s dwindling how can hunting pressure be up? Maybe in certain areas that didn't used to see as many people because of tools like OnX. But that would mean other areas are lessening in pressure. They have to be with less hunting #'s.

Also, Rememeber when we used to celebrate things like Meateater for increasing adult onset hunters because they were increasing the amount of people that would be a support for hunters at the ballet box.....?

I grew up in MT, yes MT, and where we hunted you saw other hunters at every pull off in the woods. You went on to the next spot and hunted there. We shared. And we were successfull. I mean when I'm out hunting I'm in competition with the targeting species right? What's a little competition with another hunter?
