What are some commonly held beliefs in the hunting world that you don’t agree with?

Personally I’ve always thought that “buy the best glass you can afford” was just clever marketing by optics companies. Mid range glass is perfectly suitable for almost everyone and can save you thousands of dollars you can spend on tags or other gear

Had a guy once tell me you need at least 200 acres to consistently kill deer (whitetails). The 69 deer I've killed in about 25 seasons on 48 acres seems to go against that principle.

Had some gent from Virginia once that were going to buy the 160 acres next to me for elk. They had a hundred acres at home that had 200 deer on them. I told him that in the mountains 4-5 sections might show you an elk every couple years. A nice trophy bull might show up every 10-15 years or not.

The piece has sold a couple times and I think all the owners have killed 1 bull in 15 years and it was a raghorn.

Most of my guns are old school wood. Personally I’m not a fan of the synthetics, but at the same time I’m not a fan of the current quality of wood stocks either.

The swaros are obviously better but are they 12x better to justify the cost? Will you kill 12x as many deer?

What’s the best value with the fewest diminished returns? I’d say $600-1,000
