Unknown munitions tikka action mods… things you should know.

I’m sure things will change as this is the beginning of them. But sent my action to them assembled and got it back minus firing pin and ejector, extractor, and bolt shroud. I know I’m not the only one this happened to my buddy sent his in at same time also got none of the above returned to him. They have since made it right by sending it out. The big issue that it doesn’t say on the site is that when they open up the ejection port they also mill out the rear scope mounting hole for the front ring so you can’t run direct mount scope rings anymore. Also probably won’t work great to run a picatinny rail either since it now has one screw in the front. So guess they got a dovetail ring sale out of me since I can’t run my Talley rings anymore. In the one picture you can see what’s left of the threads for the screw hole that used to be in my action. Also same on my buddies action.
Just figured I would let guys no because we had no clue our direct mount rings would no longer work on our actions.

I didn’t mean to and can’t find a way to delete em just yet and I agree it’s high was testing a new powder that I won’t me using haha
On the bright side, they probably did you a favor by forcing you to ditch the talley's! That action looks SWEET. I like that fast twist fluting more than I thought I would.

Also, SD is a little high on 60.5 and 60.8! Don't know if you meant to post those pi

I did think that you could see the pictures on the website that the screw would be milled and as a result you’d want to go to Sportsmatch or UM rings.

I’d hope they would clean up the QC on the action work and the return process. Seems subpar to have those threads remaining compared to their normal standards of work.

I was thinking of sending mine in but I may hold off for a bit, seems like they may need to work some things out.

Did you happen to weigh the action to see how much weight was cut?

I sent an action in to be lightened and the website was pretty clear that opening the action would cost that mounting hole.

I’m going to agree with everyone else. Just by looking at it you know you’re losing a screw, on top of them mentioning it. I know this wasn’t a thread to bash UM and you’re just being informant.

Action does look sick though! I’m waiting on mine to come back, should be in the next week or two. You’d think they’d change their cnc program a few thousandths and clean those thread marks up. I got the slow spiral but the fast spiral intrigues me!

Few weird lines between a few of the pockets on back of action as well friends also has the same lines in same area. All in all it’s nice just wanted to let guys know you’re gonna need dovetail rings.

They changed it today after people got emails into them. It wasn’t like that 7 weeks ago when mine was sent in.

I saw somewhere that Jake was talking about the screw hole being removed when they did the mod I don't remember if it was on Instagram or their podcast
Missed both and looks like they updated the website to say the hole will be machined off

I would have honestly liked the slow but clicked fast. The action does look sweet just a few hiccups along the way. I figured it would have said hey you can’t run direct mount rings anymore once we do this. But does on site now.
