Unknown Suppressors Updates

Have you guys done any testing of dedicated .17 designs? Given the low gas volume and high projectile velocity, I'm curious what effect bore diameter might have on performance.

Definitely no dedicated 17 designs but are you talking rimfire?

Not a new design per se, just a tighter bore on one of your .224 cans.

.17 HMR, specifically. Snappy little buggers, curious if a smaller-than-.22 (plus clearance) bore would do anything.

Is that even a good thing to have that much downward force on the muzzle?

In general no. But that can isn’t made for rifles and cartridges that recoil- it’s made for small 6mm PRS guns.

It is kind of neat that if you use a reticle that has no top post or marks above center, it drops the reticle so that you spot the shot in the cleanest, most open part of the view.

Would US entertain the idea of doing a small run of OG7 cans? Just a 7mm version of the OG6.5? I like the idea of an OG 6.5 but would like to use it on 7prc as well.

I can see it not being worth it to develop and sell such a can between the 6.5 and OG versions, but maybe a single batch with enough commitments?

You can use a 7mm with the OG65. Just check alignment.

Not US endorsed.. But i have shot my OG6.5 on a 7 SAUM without issue, definitely checked alignment first. If a good smith did the muzzle threads it should be fine. If it's a price point factory rifle it might be a bit more of a gamble.

When this topic came of previously (because UM did durability testing with a 7RM on the 6.5 OG and people had questions), i think they said they typically spec bore size 0.050" or so larger than rated caliber.

I appreciate your response. I'm confident in my threading (done by bartlein) but my concern is that I have an adapter from 1/2 to 5/8. I'm also fairly confident it will align, especially since it's so short past the muzzle, but it's not a small investment.

My question, with that in mind, is what can be done if it's purchased and approved and it doesn't align?

Either the can isn't concentric, your muzzle threads aren't concentric, or the adapter isn't. The manufacturer of the largest culprit should make it right.

Rethread the barrel to 5/8 done perfectly concentric to the bore. If the barrel diameter is to small have it threaded with a .75 shoulder collar like kampfield does.
I'm already at 20" with a 7prc. The additional cost in this, plus going shorter than advised with 7prc for most cans, makes this an option I don't want to pursue, but it might not be a bad backup plan. Thanks for the suggestion.

Any updates on OG Magnum/OG Magnum 6.5 development (not sure if they will do multiple caliber options or not but one can hope)?
