Unknown suppressors OG testing

Anyone have a comparison to the scythe?

I will have a subjective comparison of the UM prototype against the scythe after getting out to shoot this weekend. Hoping to compare on both 6.5 Creed and 223.

That said, I agree with others, don’t buy a scythe. Too many failures and no explanation or ownership of the issue from SilencerCo so far.

I think there’s a lot of us that already have a Scythe, so will be really interested to see how it stacks up to the OG.

The issue is I’ve had one since they came out lol

Getting quantitative information a this suppressor is beyond what the reviewers or most of us are able to do. You can’t get accurate dB numbers on these without dropping some coin on specialized equipment. But their opinions on how the can compares are valid.

I think you missed the fact that the OP plans to test with acoustic equipment.

See below...

Yes I plan on testing with acoustic equipment also. To my ear it’s quieter

Interested in this comparison. I have a scythe and have had no issues (knock on wood) and been very pleased shooting my 6.5prc.

FYI The way AB does their 9/16 to 5/8 adapter is make it longer rather than like a normal reducing bushing with a shoulder. The threaded sections are in separate sections rather than overlapping. Not nearly as clean of a look but it’s a way to tackle the issue too.

Yep, thats possible. But my issue with that is your adding 3/4" to it, and more weight. So you're almost to the point where its only a 3" reflex. If there's a demand for it though, its easy enough.

Added length is the downside along with a funky look but its a way to tackle it and easier than an uncommon threading of the suppressor itself imho.

Yes its a longer overall package but you still have a 4" reflex in terms of volume from a performance perspective. The barrel part got longer making the overall rifle with suppressor longer, nothing was taken away from the reflex performance, just to rephrase it.

I've got a T&E sample to test as well, only have about 100 rounds through it so far. (6CM and 7mm BC).
I'll be comparing to a lot of the recent and prevelant Ti cans like Scythe, Dead Air Nomad Ti XC, KGM R30k, DDC, and others. So far, so good. Like the balance and sound. Recoil reduction is on par.

The only thing I noted was the residual Ti powder/sand from printing that can't easily be washed out of the can like a removable rear cap can. Talked to Ryan about it to confirm it was just residual printing stuff and between shaking some of it out (including a couple pebble-size chunks) and shooting, it cleared up pretty quickly. Not a problem, just something people will want to be aware of so they don't have a WTF moment.IMG_7708.jpg

Really interested to see how these compare to the scythe on 6.5 and 7prc. I keep hearing this is not meant for magnums. I have an ultra 5, scythe, sd sti and lti. What would this compare to the most for those that are testing?

Seconded. I am one of the folks who has a scythe and is wondering if it will blow up on my 7PRC. The scythe is my first and only can and I’ve been pretty happy with it, but these are intriguing.

They stated in another thread they measured 132ish dBA, at shooter's ear, with 308win at 20" length.

@Formidilosus , @Unknown Suppressors

Can correct me if wrong
Testing is quite variable, showing dB measurements of some other common cans tested at the same time/conditions/environment is a more relevant datapoint imho. Kinda like the sound summit. It might not be perfect but it’s apples to apples generally.

It’s been posted before.

Same exact rifle, ammo, 60 seconds apart-

Rev 9 (they are on rev 30 something, and it is about 1 dB less).
