UM/S2H/Suppressors/Scopes and More!

Would I? Do you believe this is the first time I’ve had this conversation?

Here- we’ll make it simple, clear, and logical:

Do all sounds at exactly the same Db level, sound exactly the same? Do they all sound as “loud”? It’s a yes or no question, then we can move to the next.
Didn't read page 8-31 so pardon if the discussion is already over, but surely some of you have done a hearing test/ pure tone audiometry?

Sound frequency Hz has a huge impact on how you perceive same dB strenght

Yes sir I have. Most people haven’t. That combined with the fact that people haven’t heard of it before- means for some, it must not be real.

I have shot competitively off and on for 17 years. I also happen to be a dentist. Suction and drills are loud. So those things together mean I have constant tinnitus that worsens with weather and dehydration. Frequency is a big deal to me. I get the high frequency damage at work and high/low in my hobby. Lowered pressure/lower frequency sounds really good to me. I’ve considered buying the AB8 with 5” reflex for cull hunting and practice just to decrease the pressure to my sinuses/mastoid process/ears. I hope UK suppressors does well and makes OTB more popular.

Has anyone here shot the proto type UM suppressor yet? I am thinking I need another can and starting to narrow my search. Any final specs known? They were targeting a June release, any truth to that?

Yeah, I've shot lots of them:)

It's 99% done. They will go on sale June 1.

8” overall
4” of reflex
1.55” diameter
10.5oz
$999

In testing, it was sub 132Db at the shooter's ear with .308 20”. It will be an excellent option for hunters who want a short, balanced, suppressed rifle that is hearing-safe.

I know yall mentioned it in a podcast but... What the max muzzle diameter this version will fit?

There were 6 people at the S2H class this past week that shot and heard them. 6 or 7 different cans had 4,000-5,000 rounds on them combined. Maybe some will comment on them.

They are short OAL past muzzle, they balance rifles much better than standard cans, they meter very well at the shooters ear, and they sound good- with a deeper, more hollow pop than regular cans. With their backs turned so they don’t know which can is which- every person so far has said they preferred the OTB cans sound to a TBAC UL7 Gen 2- and almost every other standard can.

That sounds like an absolute winner. To top it off, it looks like it is still in tact after a 20" magnum!

Hold tight. Rostock, Rokscope, Rokcan and @Ryan still shoots them in the A$$?

Does everything look like a raging porcupine to him 😳

Seriously can’t wait for the scope and can to launch. Great job bringing a needed product to market.

Please let us know how we can order these through Capitol Armory

There is a .76” back end version that is 1.5” in diameter; and a 1” back end version that is 1.62” (IIRC) in diameter- to achieve the exact same volume as the 1.5” version.

1.62” version in a Tikka Varmint I believe.

This rifle was an absolute pike, and a turd in balance with the can the shooter initially used- not sure which but was a 7’ish inch common one. It was WAY better with the OTB can and actually manageable in balance with it.

Was the UM can compared to other standard cans blind/backs turned shooting an 18-20" magnum like 6um or 300win? I'm curious if the UM was still preferred in that scenario

Are they going to have any sort of wrench spot for a can that gets stuck on?

Any plans for a 1/2" thread version?

No, but will be.

Keep in mind, this is not designed for large magnums- it is tailored for normal cartridges- 6.5cm, 6cm, 308, 22cm, 243… up to about 6.5 PRC. It also sounds good on the 6 UM. It may meter great on 300 WM- and it did sound good on the 20” 300 WM above; but that is not what it is being tailored for.

No. It would take an awful lot to get one stuck and not be able to get it off- there is a slight sand texture to the can. But if it does (or any can for that matter) oil filter strap wrenches are the answer.

I don’t think so, as they are planning a muzzle adapter specifically fit to go inside.

I find this picture very telling - has the wiser precision quick stix, uses the straps. Seems I was right in my assessment to save my money. And the suppressor not being 7-8 inches off the end means it becomes a normal length rifle.

On the suppressor side, I’m very interested as I have no intention of going above a 20” 6.5 PRC (current primary) and putting together an 18” 6 creed or 22 creed in the next few months thanks to @hereinaz

I’d wait for a rokscope too but I’ll just get another 3-9 and call it good.
