ULUL Stainless/Portless 6x45 16" AR15 Barrel Group Buy NOW CLOSED

OK boys, tracking says the barrels will be delivered to me on Thursday. This means that @petespistol, @TheM1DoesMyTalking, and @Taudisio will go out on Friday. @KyleR1985 and @Thegman are taken care of also.

The rest of you guys (@Truck24hr , @The Guide , @TRed , @passinggas33 , @ezwy , @robtattoo , @Jesseb , @left hunter ) PLEASE SEND ME A PM with an updated shipping address, and unfortunately, I will need $20 from you to cover shipping this additional barrel - remember from the start, I was only charging you guys my cost on the initial barrel and shipping, so since I have to send another barrel, I'm not able to eat that extra cost.

And please, don't ask me to ever do a group buy again, ha. Or at least not for a while.

I guess I better get all the motorcycle parts off my reloading bench again.....

I really don't want to be the first guy to shoot one of these either!

Would someone/anyone/everyone mind posting up their load details, as you work up for this please? I know that 6/223 & 6x45 data is kinda all over the damn map & the last 2 barrels have left me a little jaded on both accuracy & velocity, compared to published & anecdotal data.

Or maybe I'm just shit at it *shrugs*

the reamer I sent them only ever went .250” into one of their 6x45 barrels for my handi rifle stub project, and the barrel shot this with a random 95tmk load:

The reamer is good, their barrels generally are good. Assuming they did this run correctly, we’ll have some shooters.

Hey @KyleR1985, you still got some 95 TMKs at a discount for these guys?

If someone missed out on this group buy, I’m going to be listing my barrel. I’ll give the folks paying attention to this thread first crack before I post it. Shoot me a PM.

My ULUL has transformed into an SBR portless 300blk backyard deer gun. I won’t be messing with the 6x45 in this platform. Too many irons.

Confirmed the new barrel has same dimension on freebore as the handi stub I built with the reamer I gave satern.

95tmk touches at 2.515-2.52ish.

I would assume the neck diameter is also the same, as it’s the same reamer.

Short version of what I’m saying - these barrels should shoot like a 6x45 should.

I'm so tempted to jump on this... but I feel like it would just sit in a closet for a year before I get around to it.

I received my new barrel yesterday. I'll be looking forward to reports while I wait on my ammo from Druidhillarmory.com since I currently don't have dies.

This is the ammo that I will be shooting this weekend and will give a report. With the “old barrel”, I was lucky if I could get a 4-6” group at 100 yards. So I’m hoping to cut that group size in half, if not more.

@The Guide
@passinggas33
Rounds 4,5,6,7, & 8 out of my new barrel.
Rounds 1, 2,&3 were for sight in.

85 grain Sierra Game King from Druid hill armory. (Pictures below) 2699 avg fps. I’ll be carrying this load for bear, considering how well it did on my daughter’s deer. Kind of a large velocity spread but I think it’s a good start.

My 87 grain v max reloads didn’t shoot as well or as fast. Maybe 2 moa and 2590. I’ll need to do a new load work up with these before I can use them.

First work ups with 95 tmks not great, but they were seated a little deep.

Well, mine is not off to a good start. Fired 20 shots today with 4 different loads. Mostly 87 vmax @ various charges that I had loaded up that were most promising with the old barrel. I had these loaded but held them when I found out they were replacing the barrels. Also had 5 loaded with 95 NBT which was the best shooting in the old barrel. Best group of the day was 87 vmax .010” off the lands for 1.75” 5 shot group(not terrible I guess) The rest were closer to 4” groups including the last group. Here are my oal measurements

Original barrel
95 tmk 2.580”
95 nbt 2.430”
95 sst 2.386”
90 nbt 2.415”
87 vmax 2.395”

New barrel
95 tmk 2.548
95 nbt 2.418
95 sst 2.386
90 nbt 2.410
87 vmax 2.386

Interesting how 95 sst was identical and TMK was around .030” shorter with the rest somewhere in between. I am using the Hornady setup with a case that I modified myself and I measured each one 3 times to make sure I was accurate. I had to make a new case as the fired case from the original barrel was too large at the mouth. Fired cases from the new barrel are around .005” smaller so that’s good. Chamber is also tighter, old case wouldn’t even go in the chamber until I ran it through a sizer with no bushing in it. These were arbitrary loads from the old barrel but still not looking good for me anyway. I had 87 vmax at 2.280” and 2.375” I think 95 nbt was at 2.365”. That was a 2.25” 3 shot group as I wasted 2 rounds trying to find paper. New barrel was hitting about 18” higher than the original. I was firing 5 shots in about 2-3 minutes than shooting the 6 arc while it cooled. I tried longer intervals with the original barrel and it was no better so I didn’t waste the time today. At this point I am going to try to work some loads with 95 tmk and 87 vmax and see what we get. Seems to like longer loads so I will focus on max length which is around 2.400” in my modified lower. That still puts the tmk at quite a jump though.

Did you seat them all out to different lengths? What magazine are you using to get those lengths from an AR? (Never mind I just re-read it). I’m usually seating to mag length and don’t think about jump.
I’ll load up some burner rounds and go out and plink 200 rounds to get past “the speed up” phase (and fire forming brass) and then get serious about finding a load unless someone else finds something that piques my interest. I am assuming these group barrels will all shoot the same loads nearly identical.

I already had them loaded from when I was trying different things to get the first barrel to shoot. I windowed a duramag and grooved the lower to get to 2.400” max. I fully understand that different jumps won’t make massive differences, that is what has me a little worried about this second barrel. I have never had a rifle shoot 4” groups, not even during break in. If I can not get below 1.5moa, this thing is useless to me. The Shaw 223 barrel was easily 1moa with the 77 tmk, out of the box.
